I think the most important thing I have learned in my short life thus far is to be NON JUDGMENTAL. I may not agree with most peoples beliefs and practices but they have experienced things that make them believe and do what they do and my words/arguments will have little or no impact on what they practice and believe in.

I believe a "to each their own", with not thinking less of someone if they are different, approach is the best way to live.

Agree "to each their own", but no need to be disrespectful to one another because they have different beliefs. Thus my response is to display that I defended this country with my life so that we can enjoy this "to each his own" type of living. So, I believe my beliefs can be shown the same respect ya know?

Unless you were fighting in 1775, the American "ideology" of free speech and rights was never really at stake.

Modern American involvement in the conflicts of others, no matter the scale, is purely politically and economically driven.

You're not defending your freedoms, you're protecting your investments... or somebody else's investments i should say.

Actually, the war of 1812 was fairly pivotal in that respect too.

So, if I am getting your view right, then you basically think that the most powerful country in the world currently should do absolutely nothing and not act as a leader, and just let the rest of the world go to shit because its none of our business. Isolationism at its best. Hate to break it to you buddy (no, I really don't) but the world does not work like that.

A wise comic book character once said "With great power comes great responsibility." The USA is a superpower, like it or not. We have the ability to affect the world with our military and economic power. Do we always? No. Do we need to sometimes? Absolutely, if we are to call ourselves a great country. Of course, to pick and choose where we get involved is a bit hypocritical, but I don't run the country (thank God).

So what is worse? Idly standing by while thousands upon thousands of innocents are slaughtered because its "not our business," or standing up for the defenseless and taking action because nobody else will?
