Got a few emails from Malen (86 speed) asking about my decision after I spoke with Chris (Jackson racing).
I responded: "After he told me he (Chris) can only compensate the delay with their t-shirt, I clearly told him I want my money back. Don’t know how and where he got the idea that I want to wait"

His response: "So what is it that your looking for - a discount? They are not going to discount the kit on his end but we can help you out if you are interested."

I can't feel more offended than this

You got your $$$$ refunded so move on. Life's too short man! You've already posted about it in the general forum. It be a different story if your $$$$ wasn't refunded.

This may have been mentioned elsewhere but it seems the 2017 bumpers are different enough to be an issue? Is the inside of the bumper shaped different or does it have deeper curves/angles? I also believe that the alternators are different in the 17s. I wonder what other significant changes there are.

According to my conversation with the Jackson racings representative, the 2017 bumper is causing the fitment issue for the intercooler pipes.

My experience with 86 speed and Jackson racing

I'm sharing my experience here in case any of you have a 2017 and are looking for their supercharger. I decided to ask 86speed/Jackson racing to refund my money.

I had been researching and looking for a supercharger kit for my 2017 86 in this summer. Around mid July I contacted 86 speed (Malen was the sale representative) and he answered all the questions I had about the Jackson Racing supercharger kit, very informative and responsive. He responded to my emails the same day almost every time. So on July 21 I paid 2,500 as a deposit for the supercharger kit and about a week later I paid full amount for the oil cooler. I was told that the whole kit would take 2-3 weeks to deliver because Jackson racing was still finalizing the tune for the 2017 model. But I was very satisfied with their sale service...until my deposit was sent for the kit.

Two weeks after I placed my order (August 3rd) I emailed Malen asking for an update and he responded "I will check up on this for you". I didn't get a response from him so I waited until August 7th and emailed him again, still no response. I waited two more days and email him again on August 9 and still no response. I got anxious and decided to give them a call on August 11th, one of their sale representatives Christian told me that he spoke with Jackson Racing the day before and the last update was they were waiting for the blower from Rotrex. On the same day Malen responded to my email and said the kit was ready but they still needed to finalize the tune. I was confused because two people from 86 speed were giving me different answers so I called them again. And Christian confirmed that NEITHER the kit nor the tune was ready. Then I asked how much longer would it take. They told me they should receive the whole kit from Jackson Racing on August 31st.

I waited until today although I suspected something went wrong again and they just did not care to let me know. I called them and the reason they gave me this time is the inter-cooler pipes were rubbing against the front bumper on the Jackson racing test vehicles. The pipes will need to be re-designed and re-manufactured. I asked them how long will it take and Malen said THEY DON't KNOW I got pissed and the conversation got heated up. He basically said it's all Jackson Racing's problems and there was nothing that they can do to help me. But my point is they never intend to keep me update on my order, and both time they said they would call me back they DID NOT CALL BACK. And then he said "if you can't wait we can just refund you your money". I was like F you you hold my money for a month and half and now you tell me to get my money back and F off? I got so mad and he sent the ball to Jackson Racing and told their sale director Chris to call me on settling this, and he said maybe Jackson racing would give me a discount because of the situation.

So Chris called and apologized for the delay. And he told me the supercharger kit for the 2017 model is not released yet I was like why 86 Speed told me the kit would be delivered before mid August. And he answered they "expected" to finalize the whole thing by that time but it didn't happen. Then I started questioning him about the tune, the blower, and inter-cooler pipes issues, he admitted that they found out the problem with the pipes fitment back in July but they didn't release the information to anyone. And they "expect" to get the pipes re-manufactured in 2-3 weeks this time So basically at the time I placed my order, they didn't have a blower in stock, they didn't have the tune ready, and they knew the inter-cooler pipes would not fit our cars, yet they told 86 Speed and me to expect to get the kit in 2-3 weeks.
I then asked Chris if they can give me a discount if I continue to wait. He offered me THEIR t-shirt as a compensation for all the delay

I'm sure a lot of you had good experience with them, but my experience was F'king terrible.
I'll start off by saying they did handle this badly (both Jackson and 86speed).
However, just to get a bit of perspective here...

You ordered a kit.
JR thought they would sort the 2017 issues in 2-3 weeks... but they didn't. And that's really about it.
Sure it isn't good service, but they haven't really harmed you in any way or cost you anything other than a few irritating calls and follow ups.
To be honest it sounds like it's the 86speed's lack of communication that's the real problem.

A pity and hopefully you get it sorted, but looking at the big picture - you aren't any worse off man.

I understand. My comment was more to the point of -why- there are fitment issues with the 17 bumper and what other significant changes are in the 17's.

(relevant, for example, for those who have an older car with a JRSC who might want to do some part swaps to the 17 pieces)

Chung-

There seems to be some confusion on this, but let me try and straighten a few things out:

1. We have not released the 2017 86/BRZ supercharger system to the public. This system is not available on JacksonRacing.com. This system is finishing development. There is no confusion on this and if you call and talk to us here, we will tell you that. There were quite a few little changes to the new models, requiring some JR hardware changes, a new Factory Tuned calibration, and CARB. Kit and CARB updates do not happen overnight, and the products must be tested before going to the public. We have a 2017 86 and 2017 BRZ in our facility for development. Again, we do not have the 2017 kit available, and we will release when final development is complete. We expect that shortly.

2. We showed the 2017 86/BRZ system at 86Fest on a development BRZ, but DID NOT announce availability. At 86Fest we told some of our dealers, in confidence, our hopeful release time frame of the 2017 system, but this was never made official.

3. Our dealers order multiple kits for a whole range of years and transmission types. It sounds like 86Speed gave you our general order update a couple times, not specifically the 2017 model kit development, which again, is not available.

4. Our dealers are not authorized to give discounts on Jackson Racing products. They would have to consult with us. In this case, Chris was consulted, but we do not have an official time frame of release on the new 2017 system. So Chris was not going to be able to fairly give you a firm ship date. Chris offered the T-Shirt as an apology for the misunderstanding, not as the solution. Chris needed to clear up with Oscar Sr. and myself the 2017 release plan. Chris was trying to provide you with proper and accurate information.

If you have any further questions, please give us a call and we can answer them.

-Oscar Jr.

When I bought my JRSC kit, I had to wait close to two months. Your wait time for a kit for a new model looks normal to me. Based on my experience, the kit and CARB tune will be very high quality. Both companies, Jackson Racing and 86Speed are reliable. They will deliver the product as soon as they can. I would recommend, just be patient and don't overload the communication channels. They are separate companies, there can be miscommunication between them. There were some inconsistent answers with me as well but Oscar Jr and Malen delivered in the end although I didn't get a tshirt It was worth waiting, I tell you

Unfortunately this seems to be a common problem with the 2017 cars and vendors. I have stop all purchases for my car as to many issues.

Purchased Jackson Racing oil cooler, doesn't fit because of air box design. Still waiting on the fix. (other than spending more money on another air box)
Purchased Ferodo Brake pads, wrong rear pads for the brembos. This has been fixed now and Ferodo has the correct size pads.

I don't think the problem is coming from Jackson Racing or in my other case Ferodo but from vendors jumping the gun so to speak on parts for the cars.

Your local dealer. Alternatively, CSG stocks them.

Hi all, I'm considering either the Jackson Racing Supercharger or Sprintex innovate supercharger. I had my mind almost made up on the Sprintex because I love the whine it makes, but looking at that forum page compared to this one, it just seems like the Jackson is less prone to problems down the road. I hope my perception is correct. Are there any common issues that come up?
