Well, my FR-S survived its first visit to the dealership today, for its 7,500 mile FREE oil and filter change......

I was like an expectant father in the waiting room ..... afraid "they" were going to mess something up......

I had just installed new winter tires, so I hid the locking lug nut key so they couldn't rotate them.

I put a BIG "DO NOT WASH" sign taped to the dash, so they wouldn't mess up my wax job.

I marked the oil filter so I could make sure it was changed.

After they were done, I checked to make sure the oil filter was tight and had been changed. Also, I checked under the car for any drips coming from the oil pan drain plug. I checked the oil to make sure it was new and was up to the full mark.

Hey ...... all was GOOD! ......

(yes, I've had my share of bad experiences at dealerships in the past)

Thats funny. I took mine in for a complimentary oil change a couple months ago. I have a quick valve so that I never have to buy another crush washer or have to go fishing for the drain bolt in the hot oil again. Lets just say they had no idea what they were doing. They had to pull me from the waiting room to ask how it works.

Why was it complimentary you may ask...because they were checking my transmission fluid a few days prior due to a complaint i had of 4th gear grinding. They forgot to put my under panel covers back on. As soon as I hit the freeway the other unconnected parts starting dragging on the ground...I was like WTF. Drove back and said something isn’t right. They put the car back on the lift and didn’t know what I was talking about. Asked me to come from the waiting room to look under the car myself (to try to prove to me nothing was missing) I just had this grin on my face and said...see that big open area...yeah a cover goes there. see the bolt holes here, here, there, and there. The tech stupidly walked back to the bench he was working on my car before and said is this what you were missing. Yes that big cardboard under panel belongs on the car.

Well, FR-Shadow, you're lucky they didn't twist that "high tech valve" clean off, trying to open it .....

PS - I forgot to mention, when I stepped up to the service counter to check my FR-S in ..... I handed the service writer my little complimentary service card and he exclaimed "YOU have an an FR-S!!".

Now, I wasn't sure if he was surprised to see a 70 year old man driving a FR-S .... OR, that was the first one that he has ever seen check in for service .....

(note, I live in the land of "big ball" pickup trucks, where most people haven't noticed a Scion, let alone an FR-S ....

They almost did, when they got me in the waiting room, as we were walking to the car they said they were about to do that but thought they should get me first.

Ummm nothing important got damaged. As you know the plastics under there all hold eachother on at least on one edge. So the edge of the plastic that wasnt bolted down dragged a little on the ground. So a few scratches but its just underplastics. Was I heated hell yea but thats why they offered an oil change.

I mean I do consider myself a car guy but in no way do i consider myself a certified mechanic. Its like these techs are missing common sense.
