without getting into the fact that it sounds like all you are talking about is power, what you are saying still has almost nothing to do with the fact that the cobalt is faster than the frs in the majority of situations. you can throw a bunch of elipses or just say "end" but it doesnt change the numbers.

Cobalt SS is faster around the track. Track-prepped? That's a totally open field, but mod for mod, I'd be surprised if the Cobalt SS didn't remain faster.
It is nothing to tune a fwd car for oversteer. Add front camber, add rear roll stiffness. And $ for $, the SS will make metric tons more power in the engine department (moar booost!).

I would never buy a fwd car, but they can certainly be made quite fast and again, it's no big deal to tune understeer out of them any more than in a rwd car.

At FR-S/Cobalt SS power/weight levels, rwd is an advantage, but not necessarily a HUGE one.

I'd still a million times rather have the FR-S.

Depends on he year and model Cobalt SS. They did not offer the turbo 260hp engine until late 2008. The first 3.5 years or so of the car saw a less powerful engine. Considering the car weighs more, I don't think an FRZ would have a problem keeping up with the lower horsepower SS.

My buddy had one and it was a fast car, but it was a POS... He sold it after three year and lost a pile of money, that car depreciated like you would not believe.

But there is no freaking way a cobalt can keep up with a track ready FRS.

Somthing that you are not understanding. When I say Track Ready, I mean Fully Gutted, Role Caged, Fire Suppression, Race Tires, Full suspension with on the fly Adjustments...

The hole bare bone of this argument was. You Buy a Fast cobalt that you cant do much more to... VS Buying ANY rwd car and Prep it for track. It will be faster.. BECAUSE! IT IS RWD!

One More Word. UNDER-STEER!

Now please, Eather trailer your Godly Cobalt down here for a track day. Or stfu...
Fatoni doesn't own a Cobalt, he's just a forum cowboy and a GM fanboy but if he could conjure up a Cobalt then he really should come on down like Bob Barker. I really want to see his "Godly Cobalt" in action.

i keep bringing up the frs because that was the context of the original post you quoted me on. why do you think its unreasonable to talk about the frs in a conversation about the frs in a subforum titled "frs/brz vs..."?

this thread is titled "come race me bro' encounters." the very concept of this thread is about street driving. i have never had anyone roll down a window and ask to race or just rev at me on an actual race track. nobody was ever talking about track prepped frs or cobalts so i dont know why you bring that up.

even if we were talking track ready cars (which is a concept that is not beyond me by the way), your argument is entirely speculative. the closest thing that i can think of would be the scca runoffs where cobalts and s2000s use to have a good rivalry in t3. as close as that is, the champion for the last two years has been a cobalt. of course with the way classing works that isnt definitive proof that the cobalt is better than the s2000 (which i feel at this time is faster than the frs). thats not what ive been saying. what i am saying is that actual race cars going around a track that are contrary to your saying, "there is no freaking way that a cobalt can keep up with a track ready frs"

i typically stray from dealing with absolutes but when you say that any rwd car will be faster than the cobalt, you cant be more wrong. fwd cars can oversteer and just about every car from the factory understeers regardless of drivetrain.

had something like that happen last night. some back story: next door to the dominos that I work at is a check cashing place, and this guy goes up there more than once a week. old Honda accord (90s model), and I guess he's got a straight pipe on there, because it's one of the loudest (and slowest) cars I've seen in a LONG time.

Anyways, I'm about to get onto a highway (road turns into a highway at a traffic light, so 35mph to 55mph). I'm on a delivery to go up to a hotel that's way down the road, and he's right behind me at the traffic light. I guess he knows that I've got work done to the car, since he probably hears it all the time while he's at the check cashing place. So he's sitting there revving while the light is still red. turns green, I take off normally, and he's just about driving through my back window. give it just a little gas, enough for the 86 to pull away from him hard, and I guess he decided that he didn't want any. I wouldn't have raced him anyways, since I don't do it on the street anymore, but still thought it was funny that he backed way off, and refused to pass me (going 60ish in a 55), until we were almost at the exit he was getting off at. decided to fly by me, then slam on his brakes to make the turn. lol.

people are stupid sometimes.

I waved out the window at a white IF-S leaving the downtown medical plaza, he got behind me and did a ricer pass and then revved the engine at the light and dropped from neutral after passing a rail road. Driving like that in a downtown area can quickly get "ones self" in trouble so I left him to his 3 P.M. traffic hooning and headed towards the highway. The exhaust from the is-f revving sounded admittedly 100x better than my engine sound, I was "a little" jealous- but he was young so it was probably his dad's car who he's letting screw up a nice Lexus, haha go back to Brentwood kid.

What is up with Mini drivers and the BRZ?

Within the last 24 hours I have had two douchebag drivers up in my junk...

First one was this morning. On a freeway that is 55mph during morning traffic. I am behind a Mini in the left lane and he is going 50mph with nobody in front of him.. Can't pass him because there is a big construction truck on the right. I am not riding his tail and patiently wait until I can get by him on the right (he refuses to get over). I start to pass him then he starts driving like a bat out of hell to not let me pass on the right. At this point I am rather annoyed and just get by him (going 15 over at this point and slow down) and he finally slows down.. He was a fat guy and must have been in his late 30's early 40's.. Really guy? If you don't want to go the speed limit during rush hour, fine, but get your ass over in the right lane with the Prius drivers and busses...

On the way home I am stuck behind a minivan (but at least she was going right around the speed limit) and some douchebag in a Mini Clubman (which have to be the ugliest Mini's ever made) comes speeding up at a very high rate of speed behind me to the point that he is literally touching my bumper and we are going about 50. Minivan finally turns and I speed up, but he keeps acting like he is going to pass me, and mind you this is now in a 35mph residential area in a no passing lane.. Guy looked like he was in his late 20's and he finally turned..

WTH??

Whoever is arguing about the FRS/BRZ being faster or slower than "X" car needs to remember that's not what the twins are all about. It was designed from the ground up for pure driving enjoyment. The same can't be said about a lot of other cars out there.
