Just curious.
Like Guff said water gets in the engine bay all the time, it doesn't cause any problems unless you've got exposed things that aren't supposed to be exposed. I've taken a hose to my engine bay numerous times with and without the car running.

tweak it a bit more. Make that black line follow end to end and follow top of the door line to flow smoother. Also the vent follow the piece & A pillar

Sorry, I'm a perfectionist

But other than that, I think you're in right direction

Hmm different attempt, tho I know it still needs a bit more tweaking

Maybe I'll run a intake breather tube from it for when I drive in rivers....
Haha, yeah but you see what I'm getting at.

Sort of. I just think why should the BRZ just get some oridinary vent and not have its own signature vent like the FRS. So yeah I'd like to go down this path and make that change, whether its BRZ related or my own signature piece.

Yeah, so there could be a functional vent there and a non functional for those whom are afraid of clutter or water getting into the engine bay, but want something different. So as you said this is can be done.

Thanks for taking time out of your day and putting something together. It came out nice and that's one idea I have in the back of my head. I would however make a few adjustments to it though.

I should get some lessons on PS from you.

I think we are talking about the same thing. Yes, the top cover piece is plastic but in order to create a real vent, you need some holes to go from the sheetmetal on the fender to the plastic piece. That is why I said we need to cut through the sheet metal. Currently there are only the holes to clip on the piece.

The STI hood scoop is designed with an angle and slope down. Furthermore, there seems to be a little cover on top of the hole so if the car is standing still soaking in rain, the water will not go up into the engine bay. During driving in the rain, there might be water coming into the engine bay. Since I have no experience with STI I do not know if there is any down side with this, or if there is a water catch mechanism or something to prevent water go directly into the bay.

Especially since this is at the side with a degree upward, if you simply drill holes and covers with mesh, there could be water condensation or damage to the sheetmetal in that area.

I thought the suggestion Ichi had made was good one, but I'm not feeling that change now that I've seen it. I prefer the first one still. At some point when I can put some actual focus into designing a vent then I'll post my idea(s).

That is something to take note of.
So like I said before there could be a functional and a non functional piece that can be made. In this case what would choose?

Well when i do post a design, I'd like to see it as a render on the BRZ to see if it also goes with the flow. Not sure if it will be more time consuming or a pain in the ass to also make a BRZ in solid works too.

And I guess for criticism, on the first render, I'd change the font mostly, but keep the black following through.
