Beautiful, I feel like the way a K feels more playful than the FA will complement the chassis well.

Please keep us up to date on the swap. I'm glued to the screen watching Irace86's Kswap and would get an additional vicarious thrill out of watching yours.

Totally unrelated to 86 stuff, but still kinda cool. My 2018 Super Lap Battle Finals, Unlimited RWD winning lap and Miata lap record for Buttonwillow 13CW

2003 Miata, lots of aero, 275/35 Hoosier A7 on 15x11 6UL's, Xida single adjustables with 1800/900 rates, Quaife sequential trans

Sept 2021 updates to the Blub:

Did a two mid week Speed SF events, Laguna Seca and Sonoma. Came up about .5s short of the 86 N/A record at Laguna at 1:41.59. 100° track temps and a tired engine might have made the difference. Reset our own 1:50.547 Sonoma lap record down to a 1:48.8. Video up after Sonny finishes adding the data overlay and editing.

Before Chuckwalla we switched from the production 500/500 rates to 600/600. That's roughly 10.7kg. We knew the grip level was going up with the 18's and wanted to match the increase in roll moment. Worked beautifully. Production Xidas will still have 500/500 because most run 17x9 on 200tw, bigger sway bars, -3.5° camber and 200tw.. not 18x10 100tw on small sway bars and -5° camber like the Blub. We run a Perrin 22mm front and stock rear. Custom spring rates available on production Xidas of course.

We're pulling the motor out next week for a rebuild by Keegan Engineering in Socal. Nothing fancy but it'll get forged pistons, lighter rods, double valve springs and ports cleaned up. Should make a few more whp than before, we'll see.

Adding Whiteline KDT921 subframe bushings and KDT923 diff mount outrigger bushings. Already replaced the main diff bushings with the KDT925 kit after discovering that the OEM were collapsed and allowing the diff to rest on the exhaust.

Oh yeah, the ghetto front brake cooling deflector things worked. Brakes ran cooler, zero fade. Go back a few pages to see those.

Car was amazing at Laguna and Sonoma. Just flawless balance, razor sharp response, endless front end grip and rear just takes a set. No corrections. Grip is redonkulous.

Be sure to have all the injectors cleaned while the motor is out. CSG has found that they can cost you several HP on an otherwise healthy appearing engine.

Blub for sale

Yup. It's that time. At some point, all car projects come to their inevitable conclusion. Blub achieved a lot, we had a lot of fun driving it. Now it's time to move on. We have three other cars being built in the shop right now, two race cars and one HPDE.

Retail value on all the parts we put into Blub in the last two years is about $26K. Add in materials, a few custom parts, labor etc. As is always the case with project cars, we can realistically get maybe 50% of what we have into it.

See the first post for the parts list and current state.
Asking $25,900. Contact us directly if you are interested. Includes lots of spares.

We think so but I doubt we will get any takers. We have plans to convert it back to mostly stock. Sell all the go fast goodies separately. We'll start a new thread for that in the appropriate section. Just wanted to lay the groundwork here.
