This is a car that I'm gonna lust for! I always wished the IS series came in a 2door (not the ugly vert). This is the answer to that.

At first I thought the front end looked a little weird and odd on photo. However, after seeing it in person I think it looks amazing.

Agreed with most people the world over. Car looks amazing from every single angle except those where you can see that hideous front end. Like some beautiful person got a beluga whale with elephantiasis grafted to their face --- on purpose. Definitely butterface.

Lexus to Introduce Manual Transmission RC F & IS F?

Quote:
Lexus may release a IS F and RC F with a manual transmission, according to recent Motoring Australia interview with Toyota Motorsport GmbH (TMG) business operations director Rob Leupen:

One project Leupen revealed was the development of what he called a manual-shift gearbox (presumably a dual clutch) for the new generation RC F/IS F drivetrain. He also mentioned development of hybrid technology for the next generation IS F using a manual-shift gearbox.

“That car might be two or three years away but when it does come you will find it has been developed by TMG.”

Considering the source, this could be a major new announcement — offering a manual transmission with the IS F & RC F would be a huge boost to Lexus’ performance credibility, especially if it’s a new dual-clutch gearbox. If true, this would be very exciting news.

(Also, did Leupen just confirm that there will be a new IS F?)

Drum Beat Please: Lexus UK Names RC F's Orange Hue 'Solar Flare'

Quote:
We received plenty of answers in our comments when we asked you what name Lexus should give to the new orange paint finish for the RC F high performance coupe. Your entries included "Napalm Nectarine" (T_Cake), "Jersey Shore Orange" (Peter) "Sunkissed Orange" (Ronnie) and my personal favorite, "Tsirlipipi" (Alemao). And oh, reader Ezystyle proposed "Solar Flare Orange".

Close enough, as Lexus chose "Solar Flare" as the official name for the orange color for the V8-powered RC F in the UK where it will go on sale later this year.

We've yet to hear from the brand's North American arm which had challenged fans on its own Facebook page, so we don't know if the name applies only for the UK or for other markets as well.

Lexus UK had some 400 entries (versus more than 2,400 on Lexus' US page) on its social media account, with the name Solar Flare suggested in five posts submitted by Peter Robert Shaumburg Fodor, Paul Britt, Joe Ettwein, Matt Frenchy and Krisstian Allen.

"We were impressed by the huge response and the creativity shown by our Facebook fans, who took up the challenge with enthusiasm," commented Richard Balshaw, Lexus Director. "Solar Flare was chosen as we think it captures the power and excitement of the RC F, as well as the impact of the paint finish itself."

First Lexus RC F GT3 Racecar Spotted in Japan

Quote:
You might be tempted to say that you saw this car already competing in those Japanese GT series, where it also debuted with a victory. You might be a bit confused them, because this is not the Lexus RC F GT500, but the RC F GT3 version, and one of the first units have been already spotted in Japan.

Both of these Stormtroopers made their debut at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show in their concept form. But while the RC F GT500 already started racing, the GT3 counterpart is still under testing, following to enter competition in 2015.

Since its debut in Tokyo, the RC F GT3 almost disappeared from our radar, but luckily, Japanese publication Auto Sport spotted one of its first track versions being shipped somewhere for further testing.

The racecar was carefully strapped into a big trailer and off it went, with rumors that three units will also be introduced in the Japanese GT300 series.

To differentiate the RC F GT3 from the GT500 version, you’ll firstly need to study its shape - the GT3 is basically the road-going RC F with a wide-bodykit, while the GT500 version is based more on the Lexus LF-CC concept car; it’s hood is less bulged and it has two huge air inlets sculpted in it.

Another big difference between the two racecars is their engines - due to new regulations, the RC F GT500 is powered by a turbocharged 2-liter four-cylinder engine making somewhere around 500 horsepower.

The RC F GT3 on the other hand is powered by an upgraded version of its road-going V8 engine, making over 540 hp and mated to an 8-speed gearbox controlled via steering wheel mounted paddle shifters.

New Information on the Lexus RC F Instrument Panel

Quote:
The Lexus RC F instrument panel is a standout feature of the new high-performance coupe, and today we have details on the deeper functions — here’s a graphic from Diario Motor with the various modes.

In addition to three different tachometer designs, there appears to be a built-in G sensor, torque distribution map and a lap timer, with all three fuctions also available in the center display.

Despite jamming in all this information, Lexus has been able to make the design crisp and clear — here’s a new video of the instrument panel in action:
