Well sh!t... bumper was a bit more expensive than I've expected. I need to save up a bit & try again.
Ugh, this is what happens when owning the house? Can't spent 100% of my paycheck into car parts anymore. Need money to remodel the house PLUS all other stuff. |

Then, just as you save up a bit more for the car part ....... the price will increase. Then, when you save up some more ...... the dishwasher, washing machine or hot water heater will go out. Then ........... humfrz |

Old stoves will last forever ...... if electric, a burner may go out (easily and economically replaced). If gas, new jets or valves are cheap and easy. Old refrigerators last even longer ....... just don't move them. Now, the furnace is another thing. So, if it goes out, you can either replace it and fix your bumper with some pop rivets, bondo and a rattle can ....OR ...buy that new bumper and ....just bundle up ... your call.... humfrz |

Do it. You'll be glad you have already planned for it when it happens.
There's a reason that I wound up about $90k in the hole on our last house according to the IRS paperwork. On the other hand, all-in our costs were roughly equivalent to renting a similar place. Cost is all about perspective. Even my new BRZ I can talk the actual out-of-pocket replacement loss down to about $10k (since I was not driving, I'm not absorbing the full amount)... though that includes ignoring all the labor (thank goodness I do most of my own work?). Realistically? It was an expensive loss all around. It's only money...
