I was also tired of all the rumors and false reports, but I have a good feeling that it will happen this time around. Also we have more than one Toyota official hinting at the return of the Supra / a flagship Toyota sports car. I'm hoping to see a new or updated Supra concept at this year 2013 Tokyo Motor Show. It would also mark the 20th anniversary of the MK4 Supra.

I just want to know, at the bottom of post#9, what part of the vehicle is she demonstrating, the clean exhaust emissions?

Additionally, i dont want any hybrid trickery in the car like the NSX has. I want pure old-school driving experience.

I hope there will be electric charge in the new cars.

Because it has all the benefits plus even more ...compared than a turbo; it can save fuel, regenerate energy from brakes (if it has the system), all with 100% torque from 0 rpm, none of the mess and heat from the turbo setup, and no lag....

Rumors are that a base mode is gonna be a V6 (NA or hybrid?) While a top of line Supra will share drivetrain with the next Lexus IS-F (V6-TT or NA V8?)...

One can only hope the supra successor will remain true to it's roots with an I-configuration engine. Should really do a throwback and attach Supra to the Celica name again.

3JZGTE with DI and VVTL-I rocking factory overfenders and pop-up head-lights and bladder-pump lumbar support. Awwww yeeeeeeeee. Don't wake me up from my day dreaming please.

I6 turbo would be nice but knowing Toyota they are going to use an existing drivetrain. A lot of people are thinking V8 from the IS-F.

Stretch the front to be able to put a V6 or H6 in without screwing with balance, change the front styling a bit. Drivetrain to handle the extra power. Tires and brakes for the extra weight. Re tune the suspension. Done. FR-S Supra, just like the Mk1 and Mk2 Celica Supras.

Remember there are altogether 3 sportscars to come, according to the plan, and not everything is very clear:

Lexus LF-LC (SC 500)
- NA 5.0 V8 + Hybrid (> 500 PS)
- in some way "affordable" LFA successor (2 seater), or a luxury GT (2+2 seater), an SC successor, in any case a new true Lexus halo car
- rivals: NSX II, Nissan GT-R, R8, 911, SLC AMG, or Bentley GT, Mercedes CL, Mercedes SL, Porsche 929 (Panamera Coupé), Aston Martin DB9,

Lexus LF-CC (RC 350/RC-F)
- NA 3.5 V6 (until turbocharged V6 replacement comes) and TT 3.? V6 or NA 5.0 V8 for RC-F
- 4 seater luxury performance sports coupé
- rivals: BMW M4, Audi RS5, Mercedes C AMG Coupé, Alfa Romeo Giulia Coupé (comes if sedan is successful), Porsche Pajun Coupé (only a matter of time)

Toyota Supra
- engine unknown but likely NA 3.5 V6 + Hybrid, NA 5.0 V8 unlikely if SC is a supercar rather than super GT, or possible TT 3.? V6 from IS-F/RC-F if this engine replaces NA 5.0 V8
- 2 seater
- rivals: Porsche 981/991, Honda NSX II, Nissan GT-R, Audi R8,

We do not know what target will these cars aim. They must by no means provque any cannabalization. If the SC will still be a supercar (2 seater) andn not a super GT (2+2 seater), both it and the Supra can coexist, the Lexus will be more luxurious and have a V8 (as the concept car), so for the Supra do not expect more than 6 cylinders.

It is difficult to find direct rivals, especially when concerned with sportscar, they are many different approaches when building a sportscar. For example, today the GT86 has no direct rival. Further, price plays a role. I expect it to be possible to get a Japanese sports for the price of a Cayman but with the performance of a 911 Turbo. So what cars will the NSX II directly raval, is unclear, same goes for the new sportscar lineup of Toyota Group.

I personally wish to get positively suprised by the Supra. My dream would be for the Supra to be a better GT86:
- lightweight coupé
- 2 seater
- mid-front engine
- rear-wheel drive
- transaxle gearbox
- NA 3.0-3.6 B6 (350-450 PS)
- dry sump
- ITB

Unfortunately it won't happen.

Lexus has stated that the LF-CC, aka RC (longer IS coupe) will fill in the gap left by the SC430.

The LF-LC will most likely go into production as the Lexus LC500. It will be a six figure dollar supercar that take on the new Acura NSX.

I think nothing is really that clear. What will this LC500 be? A two seater? It could also then be a Mercedes SL rival rather than Honda NSX.

Everything depends on what the cars will target and what will they cost. The RC350 will be a successor of the first generation SC (4 seater), not the second one which was a 2 seater hardtop convertible.

Also I don't know about the NSX, it will not be cheap as history tells us (NSX, S2000), but they can't ask much for it if it is not faster than GT-R. It has to meet the performance. What would then be the NSX rival? The Supra or LC500?

Toyota can't do anything as good as the NSX if to follow the same path (hybrid). The NSX II tech is very promissing: lightweight chassis, lightweight NA H/R engine, hybrid, 4-wheel-drive, 4-wheel-steering. It may not be "fun", but very very fast, especially on curves.

The LF-LC will probably be closer to a NSX competitor seeing that they are both AWD hybrids.

Seeing that the concept is a 4 seater I would say the production will be as as well.

Actually it will be the successor to both. It will come in both coupe and roadster form.

Lexus LF-CC Concept Reportedly Coming in Coupe and Roadster Flavors in 2015

The new coupe, which will be joined by a convertible version, is expected to stay faithful to the concept’s design that, in fact, looks production-ready and will be based on the new IS sedan rear-wheel drive platform, possibly with wider tracks for a more sporty stance and handling.

Lexus sources told the publication that it will feature a hybrid powertrain, most likely a tuned version of the one in the GS 450h that comprises a 3.5-liter V6 and an electric motor for a total output of 338bhp.

Lexus LF-CC Expected to Reach Showrooms in 2015
Quote:
The Lexus LF-CC coupe is likely to reach showroom floors in 2015 according to recent reports.

Work on a production model is set to start this month, according to AutoCar, with the model likely to come in both coupe and convertible form. Official information isn’t available, but the car is widely expected to run on the same platform as the new IS and GS models.

Styling is expected to remain much the same as the concept car while interior cues will also carry over as already previewed in the new IS.

When it reaches showrooms, the car will use a tweaked version of the hybrid drivetrain currently used in the GS350h, filling the slot left open by Lexus’ discontinued SC coupe model.
