Car and Driver (Twice) Tested Z Review.
https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...issan-z-drive/ "It's an attractive proposition on paper and at first glance, but, as it turns out, the 2023 Nissan Z is not the budget world-beater Z-cars have been in the past. Budget does seem to be the operative word here, but in this case it applies to Nissan management, which obviously didn't allocate enough of one to thoroughly shake up the segment. There's too much 370Z in the new Z, and it could use better tires and more intelligent multimode dampers. This was not the seismic shift we were hoping for." My personal take on the article is that, yes, for $50K you should get a vehicle that already comes with components the average enthusiast would upgrade (Tires and Suspension). That's why I believe getting a base Z would be on anyone's best interest and just go from there. What I think Nissan will do is leave it to NISMO to sort out the deficiencies and overcharge the customer. The whole testing with 91 oct instead of 93 left me a bit confused. Even more so doing it on a pre-production car.

Hmmm, the base Z comes with no LSD. How does an aftermarket LSD play with the power-train warranty department? Not well I would imagine, but would they even notice?

The reviews don't seem very impressive.

3500+ lb., yuk, with 56F/44R weight distribution which is pretty abysmal for a dedicated 2-seat FR sports car (worse than 2+2 FT86).
I'd get a 2.0 Supra before this new Z. But I'd WAY sooner get a 2nd gen FT86... |

I guess, in hindsight, a good number of enthusiasts upgrade the tires of their vehicle and also do the suspension. Should it had been offered for $50K? Abso-fckn-lutely. I've seen comments here and there about people rather opting for a GR86/BRZ instead because you get more for the money, an LSD to start.....
If Nissan maybe offered an LSD package for the base, all you have to do is head to your local costco and get some MPS4, and wait for a company to come up with better anti roll bars, or like the ones offered for the 370Z at its time, installed by the dealer. But that would be besides the point. So it kind of bittersweet to see a car that is considerably aesthetically pleasing, with faster engine, die at the shore because of Nissan's inability to understand enthusiasts needs.

A boosted second gen will be fast enough at 2800lbs for most. I would buy a Supra over this too, but I think they did a good job with the car overall. The price isn't right for what it is, but for those wanting tunable power potential, this will do 600whp+ on the stock engine and transmission, but at the end of the day, I would rather have a 400whp 2nd gen at 2800lbs than 600whp+ at 3500lbs.
