Lofty goals that I concur with, but not realistic....well, unless we can get the FT86 forum to rise up in unison. One forum to rule them all...
Well, my happiness has more to do with me being a Caucasian male with a college degree living in a post-industrial country. So my concern is mostly for the less fortunate majority.

The goals are lofty, agreed. But as a global community, how can we set the bar any lower?

I really think that all of this is well within human control. We can fix it.
The problem is although we want to get well from the disease, we don't want to take the medicine.

Most counties can't get two to four different parties to agree on something so trying to get the whole world together is pretty much out of the question.

Hello from the good old (er, young...) USA. Bar low enough yet? hold my beer...

Though I admit being a college educated caucasian male of European descent adds to my stress as much as it has paved the way for me to just ease through so many things in life.

I don't think I can do contacts. They're pretty uncomfortable. I have 6 days until my follow-up appointment to evaluate how I'm doing with them and I'm not sure if I can go that long

They take a lot of getting used to, and... you may not. I never did (plus, I do better with prism to correct for a slight misalignment, and you can't do that in contacts). Give it those 6 days.

I wish I had contacts most during miserably bright sunny days, when I'm limited in what sunglasses I can wear... and when watching movies, where it's a more immersive experience with contacts.

Yes, you're right. We can't put the destiny of the human race to a referendum. We'd vote ourselves right out of existence. There must be another way out of this mess.

Ultimately, we are no smarter than yeast in a beer keg.

They are not for everyone. I wear them everyday for over 25 years. I hate wearing glasses, except for my 70's cat eye Vuarnets.

Spoke with pops about them today. He says he wears them for a total of maybe 25 days per year. Mostly on vacations down south, and sometimes during the summer on beach days.

I can't think of many occasions I'd actually want to wear them other than pretty much what my dad does.

Time to consider surgery, if you haven't already. Best money I ever spent.

Tough it out until your follow up, you might be surprised. Maybe try them for just a few hours at a time the first few days before working up to a full day of having them in. I definitely hated them at the start too, especially being weirded out by having to touch my eyeballs.

Couldn't do without them now, but saving for PRK laser hopefully before I'm 30. Sister is a firefighter and it worked out great for her... also cheaper in the long run given how stupidly expensive contact lenses are.
