It depends on the offset of the wheels. Why those tires? Do you want a really soft tire that is not going to last very long?

Hi guys

I'm looking to make a big investment for wheels so I really want to get this right before I put down my hard earned cash.

I would like to purchase on of the wheels below:

1. Rays ZE40 Time attack edition
17x8.5 +43

2. Rays TE37 Saga
17x8.5 +45

I have a 2017 Toyota 86 on stock suspension. I will also most likely be purchasing a 245/40/17 tyre to suit based on what I've read here.

Will these wheels fit my car with rubbing issues? If so, how flush (or not flush) would it be?

just test fitted 17x9 +38 57DRs and here's the clearance i have from the strut perch... i am lowered on TRD springs and running -1.7 camber up front

when you get them fully mounted post pics. im looking at 1" drop n 17x9 and wanna see your fitment

+35 should be no issue... +38 will fit but you can't have aggressive camber... someone ran -1.3 camber on his 17x9 +38 and it fits

So, I've done a ton of reading and quite a bit of math to go with it. I think I've figured out a safe upsize which will allow me to get wider wheels and tires without upsetting the stock suspension geometry or increasing scrub radius a significant amount. The wheels I'm planning to purchase at this point don't appear to be listed in any of the threads as something people have tried/confirmed fitment for, but the size is a match from some BBS wheels so I'm pretty confident about this. That said, it never hurts to ask the experts and verify first before I drop $3k on wheels.

2017 BRZ Limited, I'm planning to put Volk ZE40 Time Attack Edition 8Jx18 ET44 wheels mounted with Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Positions 225/40R18 tires. If my calculations are correct the scrub radius should be positive compared to stock by less than 1mm and I should be able to clear the suspension components with these wheels/tires without a problem.

Can someone confirm fitment for above: 8Jx18ET44 225/40R18?

Also, any opinions on the plastic hub centric rings from hubcentric-rings.com? Looks like I'll need a 65.0mm to 56.1mm ring for a perfect fitment to the wheel hub on a BRZ.

I'm also split between getting the McGard splinedrive lug nuts and getting the matching Rays Dura-Nut lug nuts. Any thoughts?

18x8 +44 will fit perfectly with 225/40 tires. Volk wheels are awesome! (and expensive) S0-4's are good tires too.


Plastic hub rings work perfectly. They also wear out over time compared to a metal rings. (it still takes many wheel on/off cycles)

Shopping for wheels and thought I'd run the numbers here to double check.
1. 17 x 8.25 32mm offset
2. 18 x 8.5 30mm offset
Stock suspension, either 225 or 235 wide tires. Any problems with either of these sizes? I figure the 17" size is no problem, more concerned about that 30mm offset on the 18x8.5

Great choices!!! Both will fit no problem. 2mm difference is so little. They would practically look the same.

The stock 17x7 takes up to a 25mm front spacer to be flush. the 17x8.5 +45 will be 22.1 mm farther out than the stock wheel. This means both +43 and +45 offset will look flush. And you will have enough inner clearence to use springs and camber bolts. (if you choose to)

17s will work and look flush. You will want some camber bolts for both 17or 18.

18s will work too, with 225/40 tires. but will poke 10mm + or so in the front. 18x8.5 +30 has almost exactly the same poke as a 18x9+35; which is a popular size.

Thanks, I appreciate the confirmation. Yeah these are some pricey wheels. Any thoughts on which locking lug nuts I should get?

I know I can't make it impossible for the wheels to steal, but I'd like to do something. My car is garaged and I live in a good neighborhood, but I'm sometimes parking in garages downtown and at the mall where someone could probably take off with them pretty easily, and it unfortunately does happen in this area.

IDK what lug nuts to suggest. I have a set of gorilla locking nuts. Steel, reliable, inexpensive.




Volks, are out of my price range. But, If I was going to buy volks, I would think about buying a set of volk lug nuts.

Im going to get option labs r716 18x9.5 +35 and i want to run square with tires and i want 255/35 im just wondering if that will rub on full lock up front? if so i can go with 245s. I will be installing fortune auto coilovers the same time i get these wheels.
