Before this becomes a shitstorm, let me just say that I hate people like Kanye West and Justin Bieber and have my reasons for it, but if some people like to listen to them, who am I to judge? They have their own reasons to like them.

Music is mostly subjective, and so I try not to hate directly on people who like artists that I don't like. His character is really what bothers me, but there are plenty of famous musicians that aren't model citizens. For me, he just sets the bar on some of those aspects.

I used to feel I had to concede when people said it was "marketing genius" considering his success, but with the recent news of his gigantic persona debt, I'm starting to wonder if that wasn't true at all. I don't know what his assets and cash flow ook like, though, so it may not be as big of a deal as I think it is.

My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is one of the greatest albums of all time. OF ALL TIME. College Dropout may be one of the most ambitious debut rap albums of our time. It's up there with Illmatic, Ready to Die, Reasonable Doubt, etc...

I can forgive the rest of the shenanigans for those two albums alone. The rest of the catalog is good-to-great. There are very few rappers with that level of consistency. Yeah, he's an asshole, but I don't have to be his friend.

Yeah, like most people, the reason I hate Kanye is the fact that he has a god complex and that he has done plenty of classless acts both on and off the stage. Rap isn't exactly something I like either, so there's that.

Personally, I believe this to be the greatest album of all time:




Not for any one particular track or instrument or vocal feature or sound effect, but because of the use of the album as a complete expressive tool.

I know a lot of fanboys and girls wear the t shirt and slap the sticker on a laptop and don't really get it, and this hype causes the true awesomeness of this album to be overlooked.

Like I said, one of the greatest albums of all time. Just because I like Kanye, doesn't mean I don't listen to Pink Floyd.
