Yeah, you both are probably correct in that's what I should do. I've owned the car for 8 years - it's time to try another flavor of sports car! Variety is life!

I can’t even imagine the pain. I purchased a third party warranty for my gt4 and thank god I did. The PCM on it went out and costed me the 200 deductible but my third party warranty 5000. All for the stinkin radio.

If it wasn't more than a year away, perhaps.

Well, I'm not much a fan of the ND's styling - especially the RF.
Alfa 4C is out because no manual and crap engine. Too expensive as well. Would love an Elise/Exige but they're out of my price range.

Just get a cheap current-gen 86 to hold you over for a couple years. It'll give you something to look forward to.

I actually find the car quite attractive. But looks aside, the ND2 package is sooooo attractive. An engine that is willing to rev, 50/50 weight distribution and weighs in @ 2300lbs which is unheard of in a modern, mass produced, car. I will own one eventually.

I just had this thought...(for tall people and Miatas).
What if you attach cushions to the car directly, like LaFerrari? That would get like 1 inch of legroom compared to a bucket seat. You could clamp a back rest to the roll bar, then bolt a bottom cushion to the existing mount. |

I've read the last couple of pages of your thread, which sort of made me want to post a response
You seem to be able to wrench on these cars, if I were you I'd take my time to find a good deal on a used engine (with fewer miles than the chassis), and slowly swap it into the car over a few months. As always, there's likely a couple of grand of "might as well" expenses you're likely to want to do, which will be as reassuring to you as to a potential buyer. A that point you can either : -get a pre-sales inspection at a Porsche mechanic and sell the car -keep tracking it knowing it's got a newer engine While the latter idea may worry you, it's likely cheaper than selling the shell and purchasing a new track car. And if it breaks again, repair it again Of course, all of this is much easier said than done. PS: how complicated is it to put one of these in the car? https://www.ebay.com/itm/2006-06-07-...cAAOSw~X1fpdre |
