since we're due for some rain in the Bay Area tonight and into much of next week, I decided to go for a drive up and down Redwood Rd by myself this morning. And so I got in my first drive of 2016. It was just a relaxed cruise ... but I did spot a few other like-minded individuals out on the road.

There was a lot more cars there then I would realize. A lot of traffic is good at night I think with all the random deer that run out on the road at night.

So I decided to go for my usual lunch time drive on Redwood, figured it would be a nice break from a super hectic work week. I was going at a decent clip when I spotted a cop car/SUV coming from the opposite direction. Slowed down and kept an eye on my rearview mirror and sure enough, he pulled a u-turn and flashed his lights. I kept going until we were at a longer turn out and pulled over. We had a friendly exchange, handed him my paperwork, turns out he pulled me over for no front license plate (first time since I bought the car May 2012 lol), then asked about how I'm liking the car. I told him its fun but doesn't have enough power to get you in trouble . We both chuckled and he let me off with a warning.

Point of the story? Don't be a d*ck, be courteous to your fellow human being and sometimes you don't have to win the powerball to be lucky

Yeah, I wanted to do one this morning but no. Fortunately I'm also trying to get over a cold so I don't feel so bad about not going.

Tentatively planning on next Saturday though if it's dry.

Hello all, I finally pulled plug on buying a 86....got a 14' Asphalt 6 speed.
I'll honestly say I wish I bought this a long time ago lol...love the car more and more everyday I drive it.

Took her on Mines and Del Puerto Canyon for a cruise today, did The Junction close? or just closed for the season? I remember stopping by there all the time years ago when I use to do alot more cruising in mini trucks.

Anyways fun little cruise, not many people on road...few motorcycles(pretty normal for Mines)....bunch of rock slides...few mud slides..

Del Puerto before Frank Raines is getting rougher and rougher as the years go on...

Anyways,
I live in Tracy and look forward to meeting some of ya'll.
I work in Menlo Park but get off later in night so making meets is hard...plus I'm in middle of a mini truck build so been spending some time on her.

Cheers,
Justin

The Junction changed owners a while back and it was a night and day difference. The new owners were super friendly and made awesome BBQ. They even let us host our summer 86 DRIVE meet there.

One of the owners had some medical issues mid/late last year and they cut back their hours dramatically. They had been posting what their hours would be on their Facebook page.

I went to their FB page just now to see what their recent hours are and if they were closed today when you went, only to see that they will be closing up entirely on Jan 31st!

Hope the history lives on and someone else buys the property and plans to re-open the place...

Damn. Super bummed to hear The Junction is closing. I always looked forward to stopping there on our drives up. It's like an oasis that drivers and riders could mingle like Alice's. Hopefully they can find a new owner.

It's always been for me, I remember going up there as a kid....and I'm not even old.....great place...I do remember the owners back in 2006ish being a lil crazy and weird but it still was good.

The current owners..the BBQ was killer and service was super friendly.
Last time I stopped in was Aug 15'

I saw that Adobe Springs Ranch was for sale also off Del Puerto...$5.2M for 5900 acres....wish I had that cash....love the area...love the topography....all in one land...wheeling...shooting...living....hiking....: party0030:

Nooooooooo
Such sad news. I stopped by there last month to have another of their wonderful burgers and that one-of-a-kind bourbon sauce. And to give my best wishes to Dan after I heard about his heart surgery. I didn't realize they were going to close at that time, and I'm guessing they hadn't reached that decision yet either.

First off, welcome! Second, I'm secretly hoping that you are talking about mini/Kei trucks (although I have a feeling you're not). One of the first cars I remember working on with my dad was an Isuzu Carry back in the motherland lol

(not our Carry, but similar color, no roll bar but with mud tires!)

Wow, super bummed to hear this, I really like stopping there on my weekend drives. It's always been a stop for a quick break but now I kinda wished I ordered more than a soda

Nope, not those...although I've always wanted one of those to put a hydrostatic drive in it and turn it into a mini crawler.

I'm talking good ol' imports...Toyota Pickups.
Got a 92' Pickup that's getting slammed right now...then after I beat on it a little..going to rip it back apart for a 4 link in rear and a 5.3/T56
Down road do heads/cam should make 425-450whp
