J you spanked the field at DCTC. I was in the other Blue car in C street. I do like the way the car easily recovers from near disaster when over driven. These cars are amazing and your times on Sunday show the true potential. It's like driving a formula car with fenders. DP
Thanks! And I def agree with your comments... I'm amazed by this car. When the tail start to step out, give it a touch of counter steer and you can catch it right away. I want to work on getting a bit of rotation on corner entry though, to help with positioning the car out of the turn. More practice!

To add to the alignment discussion here my FR-S with crash bolts and (obviously) TRD springs is -0.9 front left / -1.2 front right (with me in the car) and -2.0 back left / -2.1 back right. Couldn't get anything else out of the front even leaning on them.
I'd like to hear some more feedback on pads as well. I actually have a set of new hp+ pads sitting in my garage, but the stock pads grabbed and modulated pretty well, so I'm afraid that the hp+ pads will be to grabby, even with the re71r'S. I feel like I've stated this before in the thread lol.

Got an alignment done today, was able to get -2.20 front left / -2.10 front right
-1.20 back left / -1.20 back right

This is with Koni full replacements and crash bolts. My alignment guy also said he had to loosen the subframe as the best he could do on the right was 1.8, while the left was around 2.4.

The more I see people getting -2+ with Konis and no one without them getting more than -1.0 to -1.2 the less I think those are going to stay standing as C-Street legal.

I was a little surprised by the less camber in the rear, since both my legacy and sti had essentially the same rear suspension. The only thing I can contribute it to is the fact that I took out the spare and tools. Multilink suspension gains camber as it compresses, so less weight in rear = less compression = less rear camber...that's my guess.
Thanks. Is it possible that your rear spring perches are upside-down?
I can't imagine how you have less than -2.0 degrees in the rear?

I'm getting less than -2.0 in the rear. I can't say with 100% certainty that the rear spring perched are upside down since I did the work myself and have done dumber things before...

Well I really hope not! I double and triple checked the rear spring perch (although I couldn't track down a pic of the correct orientation) and I'm pretty sure they are mounted the right way. If I would have flipped the perch the other way, the ride height would have been higher (although the ride height in the rear does appear to be higher than the front...which I think is normal with the TRD springs).

I'm rotating tires tomorrow evening so I can snap a quick pic then to share and confirm.

Sorry I sniped your post from that FS thread, but I ordered the black RPF1's, 17x7, from Import Image back on July 2nd or 3rd and they shipped on July 14th and made it to me on 9/17. The silver ones were back ordered a bit longer. In any case, I'd say they definitely are not discontinued.

Holy tread wear batman...rotated the front to the rear last night and saw this (note the center "rib"; the one on the left came from the front):

What do you all think? Could they have been overinflated? (32-33 front, 30-31 rear; 225/45-17 on 7" wheels) Over driven? Just the nature of the RE-71R's?

Oh, and to answer the spring perch question, I'm assuming this is the right orientation:

That tread wear is normal, they should start to wear more evenly now.

While I understand everyone's gripe about getting more negative camber from the full replacements, I feel like it's a bit of a two sided argument. So the full replacements seem to be able to get more camber and people are upset at that, which makes perfect sense to me.

However, I feel like this the same exact debate about tires. Everyone knows the RE71R's are the tire to have. So if you don't have them, you are at a disadvantage. In the August fastrack, SEB is not in favor of excluding any tire. Thus if you want to compete or compete at the national level, you pony up for a set of those tires. (want more camber, pony up for full replacements)

I guess what I am trying to say is that isn't this kind of the same issue with the full replacements? It's available for everyone to purchase just like tires, but whether you choose to go this route or not is your choice. I know of people that bought other tires instead of the RE71R only to find out they are the tire to have. Next national event, I see them with RE71R's because they went and picked them up. Isn't this the same as going inserts but finding out that full replacements are better?

On dry pavement the RE71R isn't any better than the Rival-S. Takes a different setup and driving style, and for a lot of people it's an "easy button" for sure, haha.
