Welcome to my life. The lazy ones spend more time cozying up to people who can promote them than actual work. Which is why middle management is filled with idiot yes men who don't actually do anything.

I got asked a couple months ago to stop telling the general manager to go fuck himself in front of all the other employees

Initially, but overall not really. The biggest issue our GM has is he is toothless and most employees don’t respect him. Overall it hurt his rep further which I wasn’t trying to do, I was just really pissed.

Speaking of, we have a pregnant employee. She turned in a doctors note that she can’t lift more then 30lbs, but proceeds to do so. He does nothing about it. I told her if I see or hear of her doing it again I’ll write her up and send her home which she thinks I can’t do. Even if I couldn’t I still would, what’s the worst that happens? I get in trouble, possibly written up ?

That’s what I said. I went to talk to HR about it to make them aware of the situation. If she wants to ignore the note then she shouldn’t have turned it in, now it’s on us too. I guess she has had a few miscarriages before too.

this isn't really that abnormal anymore, or at the very least, women are more open to talking about it than used to be socially acceptable. the reasons for the miscarriage's are more important... iirc, usually stress is a bigger factor than handling weight over a certain amount.

i've ended up in the conversation with a number of relatives where this has come up in one way or another.. with currently acceptable birth control methods, it tends to screw up women's bodies a ton of different ways.

my one cousin, didn't find out till years later, but they put off kids for a number of years due to career choices, so she was on the pill for a while, then had a ton of difficulty, and then ended up with twins.

if jurassic park taught us anything, it's that messing with nature has consequences...

Why would you doubt such a well done documentary?

Because regardless of the quality of evidence presented some people will doubt it as a matter of course. Case in point: I have seen some skeptics suggest that Jurassic Park was just a movie.

I went to Hobbytown for the first time yesterday. Sad to see old school hobbies like trains and Slot Cars are barely represented. Model and paint selection is decent. You can tell these days that R/C is their bread and butter. Pretty small store.

it's really going to be location dependent.

my local independent hobby store is set up to pretty equally represent model, trains and r/c. there could be slot car stuff in there as well, but i've never really looked. 2 long rows, one side is all model stuff, middle section on both sides is all railroad stuff, and last side is all r/c-everything.

i've really never cared for hobbytown. have 2 near me. they seem to try too hard to equally support every hobby, without actually carrying the stuff to support any hobby. getting stuff from them always seemed more like shopping at home depot. it required effort, especially if they didn't have it in stock.

the independent shop, they keep laptops right on all their counters with their suppliers site right on them. if they didn't have it, they were giving me a lead time to when they could have it. they paid attention-- it was really only 2-3 trips and they were remembering me and what r/c models i had. and i saw the same attitude with everyone in the shop

though come to think of it, i really haven't been to any model store in about 8 years-- just before the time i got the brz or so. life started clicking everywhere else, and blowing $50-300 breaking parts for r/c got old quick. the FAA cracking down on flying r/c really killed enjoyment for the hobby for me as well. my main helicopter now resides in my living room as a decoration. all the parts got discontinued around 4 years ago. i could piece it together from other brands, but it just ain't worth it anymore.
