I was told that once the dealership can start placing orders I get to come in and pick what I want, then the car should be there in 6-8 weeks.

I was told 7-9 weeks from preorder to delivery and that initial quantities would be limited to 1-2 month per dealer. They are not asking me for a deposit until I come in for the actual preorder, but that I am at the top of their list.

Who knows what the real story is here...they could be telling many of us the same low supply story to keep interest high and get early commitments. Either way, I was already planning to get one early, so getting on a preorder list is my way of just playing if safe, in case there is some truth in what they are telling me.

We are at the mercy of propanga at this point, so take what I and others have shared with a grain of salt I guess.

I hope they don't test drive it before i get my hands on it. If i worked there I would want to go drive the first one that came in. I want to see no more than 3 miles on the odometer.

This raises a good question I have for the group. I have already stipulated via email to my dealer, that I do not want the car test driven *subie sales rep smiling as he does donuts in parking lot*. So what would be a reasonable amount of miles to expect to be on the car when it first arrives to a dealer - 5 miles ?

Your thoughts

I bought my GTI with 2 miles on it, it was stilled wrapped from transport. I think less than. 5 miles is acceptable.

Thanks..

I also stated that I did not want the front grill plate drilled with holes to mount plate on the front. Not sure if it is mounted that way, but did not want to take any chances. I got the idea from someone on this site.

I made sure the dealer knew this when I put my deposit down. He said to expect between a few and 10 miles, to my displeasure. When my father bought his Lexus, it had 3 miles on it.

My friend just bought the new Impreza last week. It had 2.5 miles on it and still had the plastic wrapping.

I almost went with Ultramarine and if I didn't become one of the 86, I would have more than likely but I could see me eventually wanting a black car and the only reason I didn't go Raven is due to how easy it'd get dirty... Same reason I didn't get Whiteout. Firestorm I just don't like since it's a different red than concept it seems like. So I went Asphalt because it's basically black and it won't show dust/dirt on it as easy as the other colors.

I didn't even think of that!! I better clear up this matter with my dealership as soon as possible. There was one dealer in there who looks like one of those wannabe hot shots that I can see just itching to drive my ride.

My Subie dealer is saying 1-2 cars per month per dealership for at least the first year.
Toyota scion and Subaru never said they were going to make a lot of these cars. Could be only 5000 units a year at first.

But this could be dealers trying to get deposit but supposedly they are not taking deposits. So we won't know until they start to take orders.

No evidence either way....but the dealers will know what allocation they get when orders start...

If your order, nobody drives your car but the service people who prep your car.

And the people who drive the car on and off the boat might put a few miles on it too.
