I price-matched the Fairfield one up in Auburn a few days before, though I didn't get the added-back foglights as well.

Was that Gold Rush Subaru? You must’ve talked to the right person they didn’t bother price matching when I spoke to them. Although I did tell them I was from SF so they were probably trying to play the scarcity card lol.

1) Name: Jeffrey
2) VIN: 0652 3) Color: Blue 4) State: Michigan 5) Story: I have been looking for a traditional platform that could be quick with as little power as necessary. This meant lightweight, low center of gravity, and good chassis stiffness. ND MX-5 or Fiat 124 Spider could outpace the BRZ/86, but having a solid roof and more cargo space were more important to me. Another great appeal was that Toyota & Subaru have developed a dedicated handling platform while making the car's parts affordable and easy to find. I thought I missed my chance to enjoy the 90's sports cars, but this was like a gift to me. When I was finally ready to buy one in 2018 (been waiting since 2012), I was really excited to see that the special edition for BRZ that year was the first time to get the STI treatment. Coming from a blue '06 hawkeye STI, I really wanted to get the tS in blue, but by the time I was trying to buy one, none were within my reach. That was until someone cancelled the order at the dealership near me, and I accidentally found it (now with a bit of discount). Next day, I was driving home in the BRZ, which I've been waiting since 2012, in the version that I like the most, even to this day. I wanted to see where tS differs from other variants of BRZ/86. I have taken lap times and autocrossed in stock form. I have done SCCA Solo in C Street in 2019 to see how effective the "tuned by STI" was. This year, I'll be entering SCCA Time Trials in Sports 6 class with only the tire modification. I'm hoping to find some 86 TRD SE owners that would be willing to meet at the track for side-by-side comparison some day too. |

Don't ask a forum how much they sell for talk to the dealerships. Keep in mind that the longer you wait the lower the supply becomes. If the demand increases so will the prices!

The 3 twin photos I posted can show you the ride height differences. White 86 with TRD lowering springs: -1" drop Blue BRZ tS with STI springs: -0.4" drop BRZ Series.Yellow with PP dampers: No drop In 9 autocross events, the tS consistently gapped 1-2 seconds from the BRZ PP (on same RE-71R tires) in a 60-70 second course. But then, this has too many variables, so I will comment further when I do get a chance to drive both in a Test 'n Tune event. I ran HPDE events with fellow BRZ PP and 86, but unfortunately, having different drivers really didn't yield any meaningful comparison. I did play around with the adjustable wing, however. In Detroit's Waterford Hills track, the high downforce setting lapped (1:24.579) about 0.9 seconds faster than low downforce setting. Interestingly, the high downforce setting gave a better exit speed (in larger radius sweepers) that allowed higher top speeds (91 mph) at the straights, whereas the lower downforce setting didn't fall behind in lower speed corners. I will be going to GingerMan Raceway (a much bigger track) next week to gather some more data. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any opportunity to bring another twin driver to come along. |

I did watch the YouTube video as well, which was really interesting to me too! I'm hoping to be able to run a test at factory stock specs to compare the overall package, and then swapping only the tires to have equal grips to compare the chassis performance. |

Ah, good to see confirmation that the Sachs dampers are different between the PP and tS models. So they really are "dampers tuned by STi" per Subaru and not just marketing. This might be a potentially good "upgrade" if my PP dampers wears down and still want to stick with OEM(+). Pair it up with the JDM STi springs and it sounds pretty sweet.
_____ I have a random question for tS owners. Does the red shift knob match the red stitching in the car? Would the red look out of place in a normal BRZ? The color is hard to tell online. Thanks! Last edited by Seiryuu; 06-13-2020 at 03:51 AM. |

Ya, it matches the red that's on the push button start too if you had ever done that part swap as well. Wouldn't look out of place at all.
