Grrrr... I have the space and funds for a good sim setup, but I know if I get it I'll never get on a real track...

At least I can say it's all the GPU scalpers fault for now.

I'm just getting back into CS:GO. Forgot how much fun it was. I got a new desk pad, which has helped me a lot I think https://www.galenleather.com/products/leather-desk-pad It's large enough to accommodate even the largest mouse swipe. I just used the desk before, which wasn't the best option and didn't react that great with my mouse.

I'm assuming when you say full update you includes chipsets, BIOS, etc. If not, I'd try that first.

After that, I'd likely try a different DP->HDMI cable, although it doesn't sound like the likely culprit but I've seen odder things. In my office at work I have a large monitor on the wall that runs off an USB3 to HDMI cable. We had the hardest time getting it to work until we swapped out a 4 ft HDMI cable that ran from the wall to the unit. The short cable ran fine if you used it by itself but if you plugged it into the wall plug (20 ft run up, through the ceiling, down to the dock on my desk) it wouldn't work. The only thing we could figure was the 4ft cable had just enough resistance in it to kill the the HDMI signal coming over the longer run.

Honestly, personally, it makes me want to go on a real track even more. Like I said, I took the 86 to Silverstone and it was the easiest car to control. So now I really want to see, in person, what my car can do on a track. Even if I may never be able to drive it at Silverstone/Nurburging.

Why not? Though I admit I may not bother either - so much cheaper if I screw up! I know it's not the same and I'll probably get back out once other health stuff clears up / is managed properly.
I'm also experiencing tracks I'll never get to, and cars... Any time.
Worth it.
Of course, I discovered pretty quickly I wasn't happy with a basic setup. I may rebuild bits to get the seat lower, but that's really the only thing I'm not quite happy with at the moment.

Can't tell you how many times I had to restart the session because I downshifted to 3rd coming off 6th effectively blowing the trans/engine because the gears on the logitech shifter take a while to get used to. Or how many times I ran off the course and destroyed the suspension because my steering range was all over the place. Good thing about it, going thru unlimited tires if I did a drift event.

Definitely much cheaper that going on a real life track.

Sim is cheaper than a track day, less effort to set up, travel time is 30 second as opposed to 2-3 hours, I don't have to talk to people, less risk, and wheel to wheel racing is probably a bit more fun than lapping and trying to stay out of faster cars ways lol.

It's just another reason not to put in as much effort for similar fun.

Edit: Also if someone else was quoted by this post, sorry, I saw some strange notification as my finger pressed post...

Finished Horizon Zero Dawn last night. Well as much as I'm going to. I'm in the high 90 on the completion percentage on both the main story and the DLC. Looks like I'd have to chase down purchases for the most part to make up the rest.

Good game, looking forward to the sequel now, probably play it in 2023 sometime!

Epic is also doing their 12 day giveaway (if you are a person that uses the Epic launcher).

Game changes as 11A Eastern each day. I picked up Shenmue 3 a couple days ago, as I've read good things about it.

Of course, like with all of Epic's "free" games, your experience may vary. The current game as I write this (Loop Hero) holds zero interest for me.

Depending on how it goes, Im going to have to start off-loading some games that are just taking up space on my SSB. 2TB sounds great until it isn't.
