I got lucky and found a set on eBay that were practically brand new. I was amazed when I won the auction for $41.00 with free shipping. Let's just say I would have paid at least twice that for this set.

Drove it quickly. Second weekend out with the new suspension: Mann Engineering's coil kit, Whiteline sways / tower brace. Think that will be the end of handling mods for me for a while, with the exception of replacing the stock tyres when they wear out. Car's certainly starting to come together nicely-- the speeds you can hold through corners on the mediocre stock tyres is kind of absurd now that the front end doesn't feel like it's floating towards the outside of the corners as much. It still feels a little understeery in some longer sweepers, but in fairness I think I'm just getting towards the car's limits of adhesion, and at that point a little understeer is probably preferable to a migrating back end. It's really easy to just back off a tiny bit and the car gets right back on-line. I just wish the car made more power, as it feels like if you had a little more torque to apply you could keep it rotating into the corner even at really high speeds, and a little power-oversteer is easy to correct for. As it is it sort of feels like you just run out of power, can't balance the car on the diff anymore and the nose pushes a little bit. The car could definitely put more power to use, but I suppose we all knew that from the start.
In lower speed corners, it's pretty neutral: drive the car slow-in and smoothly and you can rotate it under power nicely. Drive like an idiot and it will shriek and push. Either way it's a real sweet-handling car that's great practice and doesn't seem to have any real vices: it takes care of you when you're driving poorly and rewards you when you drive well. Pretty good combination. The lighter wheels seem to have improved handling as well on these rough California roads. Still to go (when I'm less poor): - Tom's tails - Giant antenna fix (sharkfin or just a shorter antenna... not sure yet) - 5 axis spoiler (looks so much cleaner than the OEM spoiler) - LED lighting kit - motor mounts (thinking Perrin since they claim to retain some softness while being firmer than stock) - brake master cylinder brace (this one will probably happen soon-- it's cheap and the car wants it) - diff brace to further sharpen throttle response This inexpensive car is rapidly becoming not-inexpensive, lol. It's sure a funny car to drive though... it feels like a babby M-car-- much lighter and with no power :P The car feels so taut and sharp, though-- it's awesome. It's playful. I like it. Pictures are technically from last weekend-- didn't take any today. Sorry for the pretty poor-quality iphone pictures. Last edited by Ganthrithor; 09-02-2013 at 01:48 AM. |

I actually researched for a good 1-2 months for exhaust while I was selling my WRX. And used the part out money to buy an exhaust after I decided on the FT86 Speedfactory v1. It got it a few weeks before the car

Gave her a thorough wash and then proceeded to hide her in the garage from the high heat.

Ugh, I don't want to but I am just going to wait till 1000 miles. Get her broken in and then add the exhuast/ intake.
I am going to definitly wait until spring and the snowy stuff disappears until the new wheels/ tires make an appearance |

Unless you have another winter car, you're going to want new tyres before spring. Trust me.

Ordered a drop in filter, about to order a set of smoked Spyder tails. Also have smoked sides, and a tune in the works as well.
