I've spent the last couple/three hours reading this thread and the numbers don't lie. I already own the OFT and soon to own the OFH... and I've seen the results Shiv has posted. Impressive.

Up until today, I was only considering a rotrex or vortech solution (depending on what Vishnu has up their sleeve)... but now I will weight the Phantom SC as an option in the very near future.

Couple of questions...

What is the expected life-span of the ceramic bearings?
Can the bearings/unit be serviced?

Also, I suppose this applies to all FI applications... in a failure type situation, I worry about the supercharge and its motor parts or blade/impellers disintegrating. Is there to a way keep parts/pieces from being sucked through the engine? Maybe a fine steel mesh in the ducting that would not effect flow terribly?
Ill have to let Rob answer the question about the bearings however i think because he spins the comp so slow they last a very very long time.

This is machined with the same precision and tolerances as your standard compressor used on any centri sc or turbo. It is more of a hazard to try and place a screen in between the comp and the throttle body.

There is almost no possible way these things can explode at the RPM they are spinning(45k) unless you start bashing it with a hammer, even then the impeller would never disintegrate and go into the engine(realistically a bearing would fail and the SC would seize).

Good question though because i know i asked the same one to Rob about 6 months ago when we got started

Myself and others (drivers) have been beating on the shop test vehicle since Jan 2013, on the same compressor.

It is now being subjected to a twin dump pack set-up.

So, I don't know when the bearings will time out.

Servicing: Just replace the motor/impeller cartridge with a new one.

I know that we could create a owners thread however there is a lot of good information in this thread as well.
To add to that, Fenton, Rob and I have been driving in some very cold temps, like today for example I think we hit - 24 and about - 30 with windchill, still not a single bearing issue

That's below freezing (centigrade) not below zero. Still too freaking cold for me, but not as bad as it sounds at first.
