Uff ... forgive me, but I forgot something very important.
I wear Tein Mono Sport suspension and stabilizer bars Whiteline 20-16mms (standard are, I think, 18 to 14).
I think I need wider tires. I would like to continue with standard rims.
What do you think 235 x 40 x 17 front and 245 x 40 x 17 back?
It supports standard rims?

Yes, that is important. Basically, your suspension is overwhelming your 215 tires, and your engine is too powerful for your 215 tires.

I assume by "standard rims" you mean the stock wheels that come on the car, correct? If so, no, I would not recommend you run tires any wider than 225 on those 7 inch wide wheels. 235 or 245 would be too wide, and the tires will try to fold or roll in underneath the wheel during cornering, making the car feel soft and unstable. It's time to upgrade your wheels I'm afraid. It is a worthy upgrade, and you will not regret it though. All of your upgrades comes down to your tires and how well they can grip the road.

I'd say you have too much spring rate for the tyre. The monosport are 9kg rear and 8kg front (I was looking at them myself) and on top of that you have thicker stabilizer bars which would make the issue worse.

Since your in Spain i'd say try a semi slick like toyo 888's or Michelin pilot sport cup 2 (my choice) in 215/45 R17 on stock rims. They should work better with those high spring rates and stabilizer bars.

I appreciate very much your opinions and make me consider two things:
One, is inappropriate maintain 215 with the power and the current suspension I have. Two, consider re-roll bars oem because I may have too rigidly. Then I'll consider changing rims to put wider tire. But it will be later. Now I have no money, after install the compressor.

Never tried it, but seem a lot of people use it these days.

Hello:
Today I was at a tire store and advise me to wheels 18 in double measure. 18x8.5 front tire to 235, and 18x9.5 rear to 255 tire. And the ET between 35 and 45.
Not a bad idea, I think. Do you think?

I personally wouldn't want a staggered setup as it will make the rear end harder to rotate.


ET of stock wheel is 48 so you want to keep close to that if you can.


If you have the money, a light 17" or 18" x 8J rim (front and back) with 225 AD08R tyres.


An example might be OZ ultreleggera 17x8 with 225/45/17 AD08 tyres.


But honestly, since you like the stock rims, id go for a semi slick or very high performance road tyre in 215/45/17 on stock wheels and see how you get on.

Both very good suggestions. I've had both sizes (215/45/17 Michelin Pilot Super Sport and 225/45/17 Bridgestone RE11A) and have yet to break them loose unintentionally. I'm also SC'd, albeit not Cosworth. IMHO, any more drastic change in size/width would change the balance of the car.

I'm running 225/40-18 Continental DWS 06 tires now, but even for an all-season, they grip perfectly. And best of all, I don't feel like I've lost the balance. Of course, I care more about grip and handling.

it depends on the tyre side wall stiffness but running 225 vs 215 with some tyres will give you less grip on a 7J rim so thats why I recommended 215s. Also gearing is slightly longer with 225s

I am running 225/40R18 Michelin Pilot Sport 2 on STi Enkei 18 x 7.5J ET48 rims and no traction issues. My full suspension set up comes directly from the BRZ tS. I found that the STi axles especially helped eliminate a lot of flex in the rear under heavy acceleration, i.e no more fishtailing down the highway on ramp.... My Legacy STi also comes with 225/40R18 on STi Enkei 18x8 ET55 rims from factory, and I am running Bridgestone Potenza S001's on that and it holds the road just as well as the BRZ and is a lot heavier car albeit AWD.
I too would stay away from a staggered set up and opt for either 215 or 225 depending on rim choice.
