Name: Steven
Last 4 # of Vin: 0181 (#99) Color: Black State: New York Story: This should be a long one... So I've been a fan of the FRS/86/BRZ platform since it came out in 2012. What can I say I'm a Toyota fanboy. Fast forward to the summer of 2018 I heard of the tS and thought it was super cool. It had that massive wing, splitter, suspension, interior, brakes, etc.; it was the ultimate package. I saw that a Subaru dealer in Farmingdale Long Island had a Black one and I wanted to check it out. In-person it was simply amazing, the car was just felt special to look at. However, I knew I'd never get it, MSRP was $35k (because of the STI short shifter option), and I was some high schooler. So I really didn't think too much about that car and got on with my life. A Year later (Summer of 2019) I was ready to buy my first car... I had been saving up for several years at this point and had my eyes set on finding an MR2 Spyder, however, my parents, not knowing a whole lot about cars feared that I would buy an "unreliable" 15-year-old car and they told me to I had to buy something a lot newer. At this point, I went looking for a used FT86 I could maybe afford. I really didn't find anything I liked as they all had lots of miles or shady histories. Then my brother told me that the Black tS we had seen was STILL FOR SALE. At this point, it had over 400 days on their lot, and they had just dropped the price from 35k to 31k and a few days later it dropped again to 29K. I knew it wouldn't last long at that price. So a few days later I went to the dealer and looked at the car, It had a few scratches and paint swirls. Personally I didn't mind it all that much, but it made me hopeful that'd I get to haggle the price further. And after some shrewd negotiating, as Ed Boilian would say, I got the price to 28K. Thanks to help from my fam. and some money I had saved up for the past few years I was able to buy the car. The story doesn't really end there. The day after I bought the car I was driving in typical NYC Rush hour traffic. I was sitting in the middle lane when suddenly I heard a SCREETCH. A dump truck on the left lane hadn't seen me when merging over to the middle lane and went into me. I tried to pull away as soon as I realized what had happened but it was too late. The door had been dented and there were scratches on the rear bumper, rear canards, side skirts, and wheels (Sorry no Pics). I took the car Manhasset Collision they did a great job and luckily the truck's insurance covered the over 4k repair bill. Plans: I've owned the car for 7 months now, she has just over 5k on the odo. I'm just loving every second of driving. Whether it be on a twisty mountain road or tight city highways this car is just so much fun to drive. I haven't done many mods to her (I spent all my money on the car itself), noticeable ones are the Gold RPF1 with some Conti DWS 06 rubber for the northeastern winters, and the olm wide-angle mirrors (Fool me once trucks... ). I'm not entirely sure where I'm gonna go in the future: Some days I tell myself I wanna make a boosted stroked out monster, other days I say I'm just gonna make her a fun daily with normal bolt-ons, and other days I feel like staying bone stock. For now, I plan to do some SCCA Auto X and try to learn something every day. I have high hopes for this season as I couldn't do any events this past summer! |

They're 17x8 +45 offset and give a tad bit more brake clearance than the O.E. wheels. They also keep the scrub radius almost the same as O.E.

1) Joseph
2) 0525 3) Ceramic White 4) SoCal 5) So I've been lurking around for a while and once I decided that I needed a new car, i jumped for one of the twins. I was torn between the 86 Hakone edition and the BRZ Ts edition. The BRZ ended up winning. I dont plan on modding it anytime soon because I still have to break it in and find exactly what I want to it. Just for this car I learned how to drive Manual that day after buying it and am able to somewhat drive it now. Absolutely love the beauty. I just need to give her a name now. |
