My bot just reads new posts in my subscribed threads when I can't be bothered to do it myself. It's supposed to give me a summary of everything important. Don't know if it's working, hasn't produced anything yet. |

Anybody else get the feeling that some people that come on and ask one off questions (quoqing's "what car is better" or the "new to cars what is best turbo" ones for example) feel they are just talking to a machine when they post here?
I mean I get that everybody doesn't want to hang on a forum all the time but this new trend of asking a question and then disappearing for day or never once responding to answers just baffles me. They don't seem to know or care that it is people responding and some interaction will go a long way in learning what they want to know.

Not like it is a big deal or anything and it does not bother me really I just found it an interesting study in behavour is all. Would they walk up to a group of people in person and say "What do you think is better a FRS or BRZ" then immediately turn around and walk away? Then come back listen to what everybody was saying, turn around and walk away again without saying a word? That is in effect what they do here and I just think that the internet has so disassociated some users that they no longer think of the others as people just simple info services.

In the case of guoqing, ichi says the first post was from a chinese IP, so that's definitely strange. The user asks questions about Scion FR-S and Scion tC. Which are sold in China as Toyota 86 and Toyota Zelas. Proceeds to ask about Chevy Camaro, which (surprisingly) is sold in China by the SAIC-GM company. And then there's the language. "Okay yes I am a chick and I will admit I don't know everything there is to know about cars, that's why I hang out with the guys so I can learn a thing or two and be around the nice rigs" In my ears, that is most likely someone from North America. Neither a Brit nor an Australian is likely to uses those phrases. People of other native languages who learn British English in school (like myself) wouldn't either. So I am at a loss. I don't understand what it's about, or what the purpose is. I'd keep saying TROLL if it wasn't for the chinese IP thing. It's not anything worth losing one's cool over, that I am sure of

Was talking with my old man yesterday about his job. He told me he applied for a transfer to go to straight days, but along with a good shift, he'd have to travel around for work now as well. He'd be going to Japan, USA and Mexico at least once. I was super pumped for him, but he said that would be the worst part of his job.
What the hell is wrong with old people? (Context: He is an electrician (read: PLC programmer/netflix enthusiast) for an automotive manufacturer and would be implementing/building/troubleshooting new robots and lines for the company) |

Yes I am sort of baffled as well. Again it doesn't bother me in any way since people come and go and in most cases I could not care less (not all though) it is all just weird so I noticed.
