Hi there - been lurking on the boards for a few weeks now. Just got my Argento FR-S over the weekend and I love it. Major upgrade from my 2010 Corolla, which I hated and was not even excited about when I bought it. Really appreciate these forums - I've learned a lot!

Hey all, I've been lurking here since May or so when I decided to ditch my 2008 Dodge Charger RT for something a little sleeker and with a manual transmission. I got my Whiteout FR-S on June first and have been loving it so far, especially now that I've gotten decent at driving it (first manual car I've ever driven).

I've finally gotten around to start posting! I've gotten pretty set in my lurking ways over the years, but hopefully I can break some habits and start posting.

Howdy, name's Kevin and i get my Ultramarine FR-S tomorrow afternoon. The dealership is going to send a driver to pick me up so I don't have to have to get them drive it to me and put on the first 50 miles Been waiting nearly two weeks for them to get me one but they managed to get the next one off the boat into San Fran port.

Sup everybody my name is Francisco. I was the previous owner of a 2011 Lancer GTS that I have some pics of underneath. I parted it out and sold it in its stock form (except the coils and exhaust) just this past saturday. I couldn't resist the temptation of getting an FR-S and to be honest I just wanted a fresh start and I felt that the lightweight, RWD, aggressively styled FRS was the way to go! I can't wait to get started working on this car!

Here are some pics of my old Lancer. No thats not me lol I'm a dude.

And heres the new FRS in the whiteout color! This was leaving the dealership after she got detailed!

This is the only mod I've done so far. Toyota badges for front and rear. I love it!

Oh and guys I know this sounds stupid but how did you all get your windows tinted? On my lancer I wasn't allowed to open the windows for like 2 days after the tint because it had to dry and stuff, but since the FRS windows open and close automatically when you open the door I'm a little confused how the tint shop would do it?

Yay! I couldn't find the introduction section to save my life but didn't think it'd be just a sticky

Right now I have a ~400whp 07 supercharged mustang GT on low boost, loud as hell with full 3 inch exhaust, 285's out back, short throw shifter, but only gets about 12mpg city and 18mpg highway.

If I get a newer car now, i'd have to trade in the stang, i'd probably rather wait a bit to save up money and get a 2nd car as a DD. Not only will I miss the power and sound, but i'd get a few thousand below book value since it's highly modified

Currently looking at newer cars that get 25-30mpg and are still fun to drive, such as the Dart MOPAR, Genesis coupe 2.0T, Civic Si, Focus ST, Hyundai veloster turbo. Would look at S2000 but they're like a tiny tin can (unsafe), already drove a couple RX8's a couple years ago but only get 15-20mpg.

What I like about the FRS?
Very affordable (a new mustang 5.0 is 35-40k)
One of the best looking cars on the road (its very artistic, low, aggressive looking, and the back looks dorky yet cool, like puppy eyes)
25-30mpg highway (im sure i'd get about 25 the way I drive)
Going back to true sports car roots with lightweight and handling
Not boring like a honda civic
RWD
and RWD

Obvious downside is power, if it had a turbo option with 250-300hp it'd be much sweeter, but that'd add a few thousand dollars. The stock wheels are so-so, but at least they arent tiny.

I'm eyeing the blue and series 10 FRS. Also like the white but its more plain. I read all about FRS vs. BRZ and i dont need the extra comfort or LED's (can be added later), and I think I like the front of the FRS slightly more. The BRZ has a plastic look. Also the FRS sits 10mm lower i believe. The money saved on getting FRS over BRZ can buy a CAI and exhaust. Or wheels and tires.

edit:

tl;dr, have an 07 supercharged mustang GT with about 400whp and wanting a fuel efficient sporty car that isn't $40k. FRSBRZ looks like the best option, unless I want a bit more power but less uniqueness and handling (civic Si, focus ST, dodge dart with more boost, etc)

Hello, the name is Andrew and I purchased my Whiteout FR-S yesterday!

Sadly, I got an Automatic due to crazy Asian lady drivers in the 626 area and traffic in the Los Angeles area

Loving the car so far but people weren't kidding about the blind spots...

Right side is ok but the left side is like wtf.

But overall, totally beats the Honda Civic I had before

Big upgrade from the civic (non Si i'm guessing, my buddy had 07 Si with I/H/E and it was very sporty).. but automatic? I commute 30 miles 1-way, stop and go highway traffic, v8 engine/clutch, and I wouldnt have it any other way

But you're lucky to own a FRS!

love the wheel style but not sure if i could ever do red/gold. White/gold and black/gold maybe... but very interesting color combo there

Hello, s5pitfire, ......

Sounds to me like you are ready to settle into a FR-S.....

After all, where did all that power get you .... besides there faster ... ??

I've found the the journey is as much fun as the the destination .... if you're driving the "right" car.

Hope to see you around .... and if you choose a FR-S and you miss the power, I understand that a SC or TC gives it some kick ...

I think "big upgrade" is understating. There has to be a stronger word to describe it, haha. Last car was a 2000 Honda Civic Ex Coupe so despite people saying that it's weak, the FR-S is so strong and fast to me.

Also, despite most people hating on automatics, I'm pretty iffy about manuals (not only the FR-S) because I feel like it would only be fun for like a couple months and then it would just be a hassle afterwards.

Hope you give the FR-S a lot of thought because I am enjoying the hell out of mine! Good luck!

new here

Ryan here, hi all. I got out of the autocross/drag racing scene approximately 3yrs ago. I had a 5 liter 1990 mustang gt. I swapped it from auto to manual, new engine, 4.10 limited slip diff. It had an exceptional suspension set up. I autocrossed at the practice events only.

I test drove the auto fr-s and loved it (the auto, I know...). I purchased about a month ago. I plan to put on a dyno in about 6 months. I will then have lighter wheels. I will purchase the kosei k4r 17x7 and reduce 24 lbs of unsprung weight. I will put on the dyno then for maximum accuracy of information. This should have approximately 6k on the motor also at this time. I will post the results then.

Hi there,

Been following the forum for the past few weeks - great community here! I'm surprised by how mature the general public is here. Got my fr-s in whiteout last week. It's my first MT and I'm thoroughly enjoying it!

Another ex lurker. I have been following this forum since the announcement of the FRS. I wasn't in a financial position to get one until recently, so I'm looking forward to joining the club soon. I'm also a motorcycle junkie and currently use my Kawasaki as my only transportation.
