I got a free 1.5 lb wild caught salmon fillet, so trying my hand at making lox.
I'll have to take some pics when I take it out of the fridge in 48 hours. Cut the skin off to make salmon skin hand rolls tomorrow. Yum! |

Back in the day, I used to rinse them off with well water, bread them with cracker crumbs, toss them into a cast iron skillet with lots of real butter, from a guernsey cow, cover the skillet so they can't jump out and cook them till they quit jumping.

Growing up in Norfolk, Va., we'd go to an aunt and uncles' house on the Lynnhaven River and catch blue crabs. They were thrown in a steamer (the crabs-not my aunt and uncle) and a few minutes after they stopped clawing the pot we dumped on ap picnic and started eating.

We used to go out in Monterey Bay and throw out crab pots, come back a week later and pull them up, then we would eat Dungeness crab till we were sick. Good times.

You throw out the baited crab pots, day one they have filled with crabs, day two they have eaten all the bait, day three half of the crabs ate the other half of the crabs, day four, those crabs have starved to death, day five they all had rotted - THEN you came back on day seven and harvested and ate them all up! NO WONDER YOU WERE SICK - |
