The paddle shifters on it work far better than her old one as well. Much faster response.

Good to know when the time comes to start looking for another vehicle for my wife (hopefully, more than a few years down the road). I'll stick w/ manual until, for whatever reasons, driving a manual becomes physically impossible for me.

What car did you get your wife? The Forester I drove was a 2016 and I didn't notice any shift points. About the only thing remarkable about it was that you REALLY had to be gentle on the gas when starting from a complete stop.. it lurched like crazy if you stepped on it. After that, smooth as silk, just, as I said, sort of a "disconnected" feeling to me.

2017 Impreza Sport Tech (Combined features of the Sport and Limited versions in the US). Whole new platform and version of the CVT.

Man you really love those autotragic boxes don't you.

I wonder whatever happened to that old SMT gearbox in the MR-S / MR2 Spyder that readily rolls backwards on an incline when you release the brake pedal.

Do the same thing with a DSG without hill hold assist on a steep incline and it will make some funny noises then possibly blow itself up.
