I tested 10 different phone apps against my calibration unit (I have all the real toys to play with) and found a massive difference in most. Some were reading as high as 10db over the known actual rate. There were only two that came within 1db and only one of those had data logging that was of any value.
So, in summary, can we be precise enough to send a ship to Mars? No.
Can we get a reasonably close approximation for comparative purposes? Yes.

It is a great game. I play it all the time with my friends, alcohol is normally involved and makes the game that much better It's a game that, mixed with alcohol, will teach you the dark side or very naughty side of some people that you may not have known about..

That is sort of why I have procrastinated doing up my notes and data logs. It will be a fair bit of work just to have half the people take it as 100% accurate and the other half to tell me what I did it all wrong and how it should have been done.
This is the sort of shit I have done for a living for almost 30 years so I have probably already heard just about every argument against the results but this forum still manages to surprise me.
