I don't like all the pretty junk on it either. But keep in mind that this model is just for presentation. All the c/f parts, LED lights, and crappy dressings are just for show. They usually dress up these sporty models to be more appealing to the younger crowd. So no need to worry because the production model won't have all that junk on it.

Hyundai did the same thing when they first unveiled the Genesis coupe.

Like a lot of other people said, im not liking the Led's, rear end, or the spoiler. This is still a concept though so im hoping some of those things will be changed. I really like the mk 2 though. I just think the rear end is absolutely hideous! Can't wait for specs on weight and power.

Front end is entirely too aggressive, as if Toyota is trying toooo hard, and totally not digging the rear end anymore, especially the Altezza lights.

Meh, like the first concept better.

Edit: ok the front isn't that bad, they just need to seriously tone down those side flares a little bit. Rear is still ugly as balls.

For those of you who are going OMG WTF is this overstyled crap....dude, CALM THE F DOWN. It's a CONCEPT. Chances are the final production version will be watered way the hell down closer to the original FT concept (and look close to that Japanese magazine rendering), at least in the front half. You wont see the lower carbon fiber lip, and rear diffuser as standard options. LEDs are most likely are gonna be integrated into the headlight casing. Wheels will be offered in probably 17-18" spec and the rear bumper won't be that dramatic.

All those cheesy carbon fiber bits, and controversial rear wing are just edgy concept bodykit that TRD or whoever must have created as a (over)styling exercise. It looks like the concept has a wide-body kit anyway which will be stripped away in production.

The FT has really proven that Toyota can actually design a good looking car. The last 10 years have been disastrous so to see something this radical out of the FT-86 II is a real surprise for me.

Not a surprise to me at all. Toyota is a global business conglomerate. Pretty sure they know how to properly 'market' a product to its intended user.

Well aware its a concept, just stating my opinion is all. Definitely not 'wtf omg gg roflmao'

Overall shape looks greats.

Things that need to be changed (IMO):

Delete the LED sweep. Either make it a straight LED strip (Benz E-Class in the fog light area style) or remove it entirely. I think it wasn't there originally and was recently molested before the show since it's the flavor of the month lighting modification.

Restyle the rear 'diffuser' - It's a bit over the top, even for a concept. Hopefully it's toned down and they have a removable section around the exhaust outlets (so it can be taken off and refitted for an aftermarket one... if they exhaust company wants to make a piece, that is).

Remove the fender vent - It looks goofy... I'd only keep it there if it is functional... it doesn't look functional to me at this point.

Aside from that, I'm loving the design. As long as it ends up driving as nicely as it does in GT5, I'll still be PRO FT. It is planned to be released as a Scion stateside (officially told in our last Scion meeting at Toyota Corp just a few weeks back), but we'll see if anything changes in the next few months. It's an exciting time for Toyota fans worldwide.

oh no, it wasn't aimed at you or anyone in particular but just quickly glossing over the last couple pages of responses there are a couple standout responses that took me back. The design has some faults obviously, and Toyota should have released a more "realistic" concept of the FT with all the aero-bits stripped out.

hey at least toyota didn't raise it 5", stretched the car by 8" in length... and made it look more a Scion TC replacement :P

The bad
(1) The Rear Bumper is too "busy" in terms of lines. Need to go back to Concept 1.0 and make it clean.
(2) Rear lamps is similar to the FT-HS concept 4 years ago, it also looks Supra-ish with the horizontally elongated shape. But more so, in combination with the Rear Bumper shape, it looks similar to the RX-8.... which is not so bad for the RX-8... BUT this isnt the RX-8, not to mention not a Mazda. First and foremost, they need to go back to Concept 1.0 as it looks clean and looks sophisticated BUT... sporty and euro-like.

(3) The front fender air vent/dams.... take away the chrome piece and its not so bad.

(4) The Rear Fender..... its too rounded. Concept 1.0 was perfect in terms of "edgy and sharp" modern look. Not to mention the rear end doesnt realyl mesh well with the "sharper" edged FR fenders.

(5) The RR Spoiler has got to go............ make it less Batmobile like and make it simplier in shape and OPTIONAL when purchased, as MOST will NOT want one on their car.

(6) LEDS and colourless lamps (rear lamps).... Audi rang, they want their trademark back. Seriously, this car doesnt need fancy blings. Go back to basics.... and as stated with the rear lamps before.... change the shape and colour too.... in short bring back concept 1.0 rear lamps period.

The GOOD...

(1) The top angled shot shows a brilliant and elegant shape.... WOW, from the profile the back windshield and roof curve looks a bit too rounded but from the top angle view its spot on.

(2) The FR Bumper.... although UNREALISTIC for production. Looks aggressive as. Most aggressive styling from Toyota... even more so than the LFA.
I'm not too sure if it'll be as "busy" and edgy for production however... because man... External Projection requirements, (pedestrian safety), require radii/fillets on edges to be slightly less sharper than those... judging from the photos anyways. But it could be just right on the minimum... if so... well done styling and engineering.
Carbon Fiber is for show obviously... I dont expect it on production.

(3) Hood/Bonnet shape... I loved the "compact" look of concept 1.0. But obviously, it needed to get a bit bulgy on the middle portion for pedestrian collision requirements. Extending the bonnet towards the front giving it a more sharper... almost S2000 profile nose turned out nice. I still would like the concept 1.0 front end shape, but this isnt bad at all.

(4) Wheel width.... 18 inch diameter is FINE..... but the front looks to be 7 inches in width and the rear looks to be 7.5 inches......
How about making the front standard with 7.5 inches and the back 8.5 inches....
I'm merely whining now, as aftermarket wheels are always an option... but to save Toyota some criticism, how about matching Nissan's 370Z and BMWs 135i and giving it a wider wheels for a more commanding "stance".

NOTES:
(1) The A-Pillar is back to usual... concept 1.0 showed a thinner A-Pillar with NO visible sheet metal outside.... which is very very hard to engineer structure wise... not to mention expensive design to ensure enough rigidity. Its definitely do-a-ble... but I think it came down to crash test results/targets.... not to mention Toyota's Safety Cell concept on all passenger cars.

(2) Looking at the side profile slightly tilted so that the rear is visible..... tell me that isnt beautiful.... the profile anyways (not the rear)..... it looks GTR-esque but also LFA-esque..... just add a sharper line on the RR fender (and change the Rear lamps back to 1.0) and it looks like an exotic..... WOW....

(3) Now... with the car looking like a Menace and a road-shark... Toyota HAS to make the performance match.... nothing worst than having an aggressive looking car but losing to Family Sedans when it comes to traffic light race to 60mph/100kmph.... I'm just saying.... Toyota please make the car "adequate" off the factory.... 220+ hp would be a good start.

(4) They should of shown it in WHITE!! :-D
