Hi everybody:

My English is not good, but I will try, with the help of a translator, make me understand.
I too am owner of a Cosworth Stage 2, without the stage 1. In other words, take the oem exhaust line. I'm wearing for 1 month. Day 14 is trackday at Montmelo and try there. We'll see. But I still take 215 tires.

You'll be fine on 215s as long as they are a decent tyre!

So I pulled my Perrin cooler out today to see what difference it would make to my intake temps. Instead of 12-15C above ambient I was seeing 3-5C above. Even after being parked up for a while at the carwash and getting the inevitable heat soak I was still able to get back down to around 7-9C above ambient. It was a bit cooler today, only 30C with humidity around 98 percent. I will do some more checking of temps over the next couple of weeks but I think it is time to rethink my oil cooler set up. I am also waiting on a set of the Velox bonnet vents to arrive to help reduce the under bonnet heat, plus its also nice to see the Cosworth stencil through the grille !

Yeah this is exactly the reason I made mine fit behind the fog lights.


I'm interesting in the Velox bonnet vents too, but in the UK rainy weather I worry about water ingress.

Yes bonnet, guard and boot here although I do slip into the 'new' language every now and then. Australia's figurehead is still Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II , and in my case helped along by the fact that my mother was English and my father was a Scot.
I have the APR/Carbign Craft alternator and A/C cover trimmed down to clear the supercharger so my belts are covered and the APR carbon cooling plate fitted as well, so I hope that the rain guards will dump over the cooling plate. I also try not to take the BRZ out if its raining. Truth be told I also try not to take my STi Legacy out in the rain either and use any excuse to take my partners Forester instead. Sucks when she is at work.
I remember you mentioned that you were running your oil pressure sensor off a tee along with the stock pressure switch, which is the same as I have been, and that you were planning on using the Mocal spacer with your Mishimoto thermostat sandwich. I have just ordered the TRD sensor sandwich so I can run both my oil temp and pressure off that and it looks to be the same size as the Mocal spacer. Fensport are indeed local - I've had many a lengthy talks with Adrian (owner) over the years. I bought my Cosworth kit from them.


I use an ODB bluetooth and nexus 7 to readout oil temp. I just have the pressure gauge fitted in the drivers side vent to keep and eye open for oil surge/starvation.


At the moment I have mocal spacer and thermostatic plate, but plan to swap over to a mishimoto as it has the sensor 1/8npt thread.

Ok. Nexus 7 is a nice setup. I am running P3 Cars A/c vent gauge which handles pretty much everything but is a pain to scroll through on the move, and definitely no good for track, and Block8Head dual pod in the defrost vent for dedicated Defi racer oil temp and pressure. ( I was running boost and oil pressure, but will throw the boost gauge into the Legacy instead in favour of oil temp). I was thinking about the Mishimoto as well but wasn't sure about clearance without running feed lines to the sensors, which was the problem i discovered with my one piece setup, hence the purchase of the TRD plate which should allow me to position both sensors either under the oil lines to the cooler or to the rear, instead of the side

Wow those temp readings make me want to move my oil cooler. But I need longer hoses as the Perrin's are pretty short.

Here's a log of mine. Notice until the oil is warm (I was cruising at 40-60mph) and I started thrashing the car, the IATs pretty much track ambient temps.

I would strongly recommend it ! Checked my temps again yesterday in 35C (95F) ambient and intake temps were only 2-4C above ambient . Even after parking for lunch after a run up into the hills I was able to get it back down to around 7C above. Looks like the Perrin cooler blocks the airflow considerably especially with the BRZ which seems to have a smaller front opening than the FRS / Toyota86.

Well considering the hoses are too short to place the cooler on the passenger's side, I'll have to invest in some longer hoses. Although, I really like the Mishimoto's since they are all shiny and such haha.

I disconnected my Oil cooler over the weekend. Will get some logs soon, but oil temps looked much better.

On Sunday, the 14th, I ran in the Montmelo circuit and suffered a lot, I guess, that 215 tires (Yokohama advan 105). Cornering the car wanted to go and could not accelerate and straight, the car lacked poise, stability, and could not squeeze all.
What measures of tires and rims you carry you. Thank you

This may be a discussion for the Wheels/Tires section.

I run 18x9.5 inch wheels, 265/35-18 tires. You will need very sticky tires to run 215 wide tire. Assuming you are using these:

They seem decent, I have not tried them, but maybe try some tires with more grip, like:

Or some other similar sticky tire if you are going to stay with 215 tires. Look for a Treadwear rating below 200. Otherwise wider wheels and tires will help. Do you have any suspension upgrades? You may try removing your rear sway bar to get more grip exiting the turns.
