So many rumors and stuff going on.

Source

Quote:
Tada does mention his “next sports car.” When describing the next car he says ”I want to make a big… ‘wow.’ I want to give the world a shock.”
Quote:
When asked directly about a new Supra, Tada says “Of course, anything is possible.” Yoshinori Sasaki, another engineer associated with the FR-S said, “It’ll be a different avenue of sports car from the GT 86.” He is adamant that this new Supra will use a pure gasoline drivetrain.
Source
Quote:
According to a senior manager at BMW, this cooperation will differ from the Toyota-Subaru plan in that both cars will retain their own character, a strong hint that they may look little alike. According to that BMW source the vehicle, “will be a sustainable sports car with environmentally friendly technology.”

There’s also speculation that the joint project could be a version of the BMW i8, which could lend its powertrain to the Lexus LF-LC concept
Whatever it will be, i wonder what they will come up with.

But kinda strange that you can read this:
Quote:
“I think current hybrid technology is not good for road sports cars,” FR-S chief engineer Tetsuya Tada said during an interview with Top Gear.
But yet they are working on a hybrid prototype of the FR-S, maybe with KERS technology. Source

It might be true, that Supra will not be a hybrid. But one thing I have lerned. Never thrust rumors. Even when its from Toyota engineer themselves.

I think it'd be cool if Toyota and Subaru teamed up on another sports car. I think a Supra with a 6 cylinder boxer would be awesome.

Lexus ISF has over 400hp, weighs a few hundred pounds more than the old Supra...
A new Supra cannot cost anywhere close to the ISF.

Yeah, sounds like Akio is pretty happy with how well the 86 has been received and is ready to bring Toyota back into another sports car era.

How about making an affordable version of this?

Supra successor “as soon as possible.”

Not sure if this has already been posted...

from MotorTrend

... It’s no secret that Toyota president Akio Toyoda has been pushing for a new Supra. During a recent interview with Singapore-based AsiaOne.com, Tada admitted that Toyoda has asked him to spearhead the project and develop the Supra successor “as soon as possible.”

Wouldn't that be awesome if MSRP started somewhere near where the 1998 Supra went for?
Bwahahahah!

It needs to be priced around the mustang or 370z to be supra. They shouldn't do what nissan did with thr gtr imo

I agree completely, it shouldn't be another engineers' fantasy playland product like the LFA. It should grow from the passion that led to the design of the GT86. Driving experience first, extraneous additives last. If it could put out 370z and mustang performance numbers with an increased driving feel and fun factor, it'd do great.
