For cast wheels I'll mostly be looking at Enkei, OZ, Kosei and Rota as I've had great experiences with all of them.

Both BFG and Yokohama makes a decent street tire in 225/45zr16. Both are good performing tires and not too expensive in 16 size.

Running 225 tires in either 16 or 17 will require some research. The stock 215/45R17 is not exactly easy to match diameter for once you change up to 225.

Assuming I go with 17inch rims at stock tire size then I would consider the Contisport tire as that is the lightest and has decent performance.

Oh and don't forget SSR wheels. They are nice.

Question

What is required to have center lock rims? On my Alfa I can have center lock rims for which an adaptor kit is needed. How is it on Motorsport rims or such as the 911 GT3? If possible I would prefere CL rims on my 86.

This is how the Alfa rims looks like with its adapter.

there's bolt on adapter that goes on the wheel hub. companies that sell the wheels usually offer kits.

Thanks. I see there is center lock adapter kit, as on the Alfa, and a center lock conversion, which I personally find better and more usefull. I like this, for track purpose of course.

ES100s are going away I believe, and they suck. I've owned a few sets just because I was getting stupid good pricing on them, but they are horrible tires IMO. KDW 2's I haven't used.. but by great street tires I'd limit myself to things like AD08s, RE11s, Star Specs, etc. I wouldn't waste the time running KDW 2's and being limited to that one tire choice.. which will eventually go away since 225/45/16 is a very unpopular tire size.

Here's a table of choice I made awhile back and posted it at least twice in other threads, but will post again since it's relevant here:

235/40/17 is likely what I'll run for 17s... preferably with 17x8.5s but they are very hard to find.

SSRs are ok. I've seen far too many bend and break though so I tend to avoid them... for the price there are better wheels IMO. I use to love the SSR comps though.

I know people who have used them with good luck, but I've never run them. They are popular with the S2000 crowd.

Question for the rim experts....

What is your opinion of Konig rims?

I do not know if they are quality, but I have seen several designs that I like.

Thoughts...

I used to own a couple sets back in the day, I never had an issue w/ them

They have a couple light weight sets as well
