It is amazing to run 30psi and offer a 10 year / 100k mile warranty.

That's not official info though. I bet it wouldn't run less than 20psi to get those number. 2.0L turbo for 275 hp is insane number I know, but for 3400lb, I'm not so sure.

Edit: actually, the maximum is at 30psi, so this engine probably runs 20psi+

They better use performance Aisin tranny in that thing. 350hp is too much power for a crappy tranny to handle.

Its always someone who is a fanboy of another car calling someone else a fanboy. I never cared for Hyundai,Toyota and all brands. I just appreciate it when ALL automakers make a sports coupe I like. I pledge no allegiance like guys like you.

I'm a fanboy of sports coupes not the brand. A brand can make shitty ass cars sit next to there sports coupes and that's what all of them do.

I donīt understand the fighting.
The FT-86 will hopefully be a good car and the gc is a good car.
I was thinking about buying a GC 3.8. But I didnīt like the manual transmission much. And the insurance here is very overdone. (It would have cost me nearly 3 times of what I paid for my BMW 325i...)
The new GC...
Well, I donīt like the front of it.

Oh, then say "power is over rated." Don't solo Hyundai out for overrating their HP figures when every manufacturer whos ever made a performance car has done the same thing.

All I said was Hyundai's estimates are pretty damn accurate. When they say 210hp you actually get 197-203(a/t) to 207-218(m/t) rwhp [see GenCoupe.com's factory dyno sheets].

I seem to recall at launch them saying that on high octane fuel the GC 2.0 was 235hp? That's the number I've always used in my head.....

Anyway... 10% drivetrain loss in a rwd car is ridiculously low. Not likely.
That was exactly the point I was making months ago. If the FRS has a better power to weight ratio theres no reason it should see 7second 0-60 blasts like almost everyone was OK with. It shouldn't be any slower than the "obese" GC.

I don't remember Hyundai themselves saying 235hp, but I've seen numbers on GenCoupe showing upto 236chp on 92ron.

10% drivetrain loss in a RWD is ridiculously low, I agree, from what I've been reading its anywhere from 9% to 15%. Which is pretty impressive for their first RWD sports car.

IDK who you're directing this to, but I joined that years ago. As well as every other car I've ever been interested in as far back as 1999. Hell, I even joined an LS1 forum and I'm not a V8/Domestic fan. I like to be educated on all cars I follow, I prefer not to be ignorantly fanboi-ish towards one car.

Yeah, but if a 370Z is a bargain at $32K without LSD($3000 option) and weighing 3374 lbs, then the GC is a steal at $28k with LSD and 3469 lbs.

This is not the Sonata 2.0T engine, but it and the Sonata engine are Theta blocks built in the same plant as the Mitsubishi Evo engine. The new GC 2.0 has a larger, twin scroll Mitsubishi TD04-19G turbocharger capable of 30psi MAX (not 30psi from the factory), a larger intercooler, and what I would assume to be beefier internals to handle the extra boost. The engines for the Sonata, GC, and Evo are not the same, but they are built in the same factory in Korea owned and operated by Hyundai.

Right, the TD04-19G turbo is capable of 30psi MAX, there is no way in hell they will sell a car pushing over 15psi from the factory... but YOU can crank it up when you drive it off the lot. The last model has a much smaller TD04-13G or 14G which turned into nothing more than a hot air bag over 20psi, so the 10psi boost is definitely a welcomed improvement.

lol.

It's capable of 30psi MAX, it's not rolling off showroom floors with 30psi. The current GC2.0T comes with 8.7psi from the factory from a turbo capable of 20psi max. I would hiiighly doubt Hyundai is daring enough to sell a car with a 10yr/100,000mi warranty pushing over 1bar of boost from the factory. I think 14-15psi out of the refreshed GC would be realistic.

And on that note, knowing I can safely crank up the boost another 10-15psi from the factory turbo is exactly the reason I prefer turbocharged cars over N/A from the showroom. <$500 in aftermarket parts and you're looking at another 40-50whp.

Wait, they are using Mitsubishi's? Ok, now I see why they can do 270hp at 15psi.
