Oh fuck Toronto traffic is terrible too! Maybe not quite as big of a city but they need some better subway system or something.

TTC ain't too bad, but it's confusing as heck for me. Luckily Google maps shows public transit routes there so I'm not entirely lost when I use it. I do enjoy the subway and street cars providing it's at off hours. Taking it when people are commuting or going to big events is awful.

I love cities with well-executed mass transit systems. Budapest is also a great example.

It's not ideal, but good enough that at most I walk 5 or 6 km when I'm not on transit. The worst was when I went to the Raptors game and had to dress up a bit to get into that private club in the Air Canada Centre. Was wearing dress shoes that I'd never worn before and the subway was closed 2 stops before the normal stop for the ACC. My heels blistered horribly, and my girlfriend didn't have a sewing kit at her apartment. Had to live in flip flops for 4 or 5 days after. My boss was slightly less than impressed when I showed up to work the next day wearing them. The CEO of the company noticed, asked wtf I was doing. I explained, and he laughed then asked "So was the Raptors game worth it?"Being that they were corporate tickets, I said "yes sir, I'd do it again in a heartbeat" even though I hate basketball.

Finally got around to upgrading the headunit in our '04 Suburban to bring it into this century.

Never knew when I got a new cordless reciprocating saw for Christmas a radio install would be the first time I used it on a project!

Made quick work of it, I can't imagine how long it would have taken with a hacksaw (the recommended tool). My neighbor did come out to see what the heck I was doing though!

The bracket really doesn't support anything but the original HU. I suppose it could provide some support for the top of the dash but there was a gap between it and anything else over it.

I need some tools like that. A dremel is still on my list to buy, along with a reciprocating saw are about the only tools my old man doesn't have. The neighbour a few doors down probably has everything I might need, but I hate social interaction so much, I wouldn't go a few doors down to ask to borrow tools if my life depending on it.

This is the beast, Rigid X4. Got it as part of a set. They aren't cheap (job grade) but well worth it. It's also heavy, at about 7.5lbs. I decided on Rigid because in the US, when you buy them through Home Depot and register them, you get free lifetime warranty, including batteries!

OK, so let her pick the color of the extension cord and duct tape .......

Reminds me of a story.

Back-in-the-day, we had just moved into a new house in California and I was dragging my feet on landscaping the back yard. So, I was on a two week business trip to Canada, when my (now ex) wife contracted to have a 20'x40' free form, in ground, swimming pool installed in the back yard.

I had ALWAYS done my own electrical work ...... except for this pool, because they had to get electrical and plumbing permits.

When the county plumbing inspector came to inspect the plumbing, I let him to the back yard through the garage.

He looked around my garage and strongly suggested that I NOT let the electrical inspector go through my garage .......

(you see, I figured that installing conduit pipe was time consuming and costly ....... and romex was costly and overkill ....... extension cords were cheap and easy)
