At times I feel so car-antisocial. I never go to FRS/BRZ specific meets (only occasionally Cars n Coffee), no IG or FB type social media, etc. I do enjoy socializing at track events though.

I love going to meets and talking to people.

I have attended two big car shows at the town near my cottage and really enjoyed explaining what the car is to a couple of hundred people each time. Believe me, it stood out like a beacon among the new Mustangs, 1950s/60s classic cruiser, first gen Pony cars and 30 year old Porches. Since these were well organized and advertised annual shows not just car people were there but a large crowd form the general public as well. Was fun just standing back and listening to some discuss my car. Especial the guy telling his buddies how great that new Porsche Spyder was since Scion is apparently German for Spyder now.

Thanks for sharing another great story!! It is fun listening to people talk about the FRS and trying to explain boxer motors blows some people's minds haha! The one thing I get a lot of here in Calgary is guys that do this:

and I drive an auto then they always give me a hard time about how much money I spent on my car and it's an auto lol! Different strokes for different folks

A large part of the enjoyment of doing a show with a big mix of different cars and the general public involved is that you don't get that "car guy" expression of bias.
Every other Sunday or so I attend a meet in London. There are usually 60 to 80 cars ranging from custom 50s lead sleds to real JDM (RH drive) Evos and STis. I can immediately tell the supposed "car guys" when they ask if it is MT or AT, if it is turboed and what the HP is. The general public just don't care and they UUUH and AAAAH when I simply tell them it is RWD. Oh, and of course there are always the multitudes of women of all ages saying "oooooh I loooooove that colour".

That, and vape competitions. Seems like vaping and car meets are hand in hand now. I can pass on watching people try a blow the biggest cloud, and talk about how big tobacco is trying to stop them from vaping something healthier than cigarettes. Its even funnier when I hear some of these guys never smoked before but started vaping.

Oh thank the gods I have never experienced that. I would lose my mind and collapse in uncontrolled fits of laughter.

The older (mind you, im only 23) ladies love the color, especially the ones around the area that I work at.

A few have stopped jogging just to stand there and stare my way. I give them a friendly wave and smile back.

I swear EVERY cars and coffee I attend I get thousands of questions about the FR-S. A lot by older gentlemen who only really looked at muscle cars and ask what kind of car mine is... I had some people ask me if it's a V8.. I just lol and keep quiet and only answer legitamate questions. But I am so surprised by how many people are interested in the FR-S/BRZ. I've gotten more attention in this than any of my other cars (more than my TT Z32)
