Magellan is good, Hendricks is great(pretty much the standard in gin), if you can get your hand on it ungava (or bay of ungava) is a great one, it's Canadian so I don't know if it's available in the rest of the world.

Living in Canada is hell for reasonably priced scotches so more often than not I have to stick to young scotches. for affordable everyday drinker I really enjoy the glenlivet and the aberlour.

Also Glenrothes 1985 was some of the best reasonably priced scotch I have gotten, unfortunately I cannot remember which one it was and it is probably no longer available for sale

Strong? no. It's just that I could make a very close replica with some boondock moonshine and a bucket of tar and some mud from my back yard. It would taste awful, just like Laphroaig.

Yeah, I have tried several varieties of Glenrothes. Passable, but over priced. IMHO etc.
