IMHO, the real begginer pistol should be a .22 rimfire. They're lots to be had for 500. I love my Ruger Mk2, it's one of the gun that I shoot the most and it ate everything I've feed it without failure. The SR1911 is an ok gun at best and 550 is not a real good deal either.

Even though 45 ACP is my favorite pistol caliber and 1911 is my favorite pistol, I wouldn't recommend it as a begginer/first pistol. The rounds are expensive and some of the lower end 1911s could be finicky.

This. I haven't seen any recovery in availability of 22lr in over a year.

On phone I am. Therefore, if mistakes I make, Frank Oz blame you should.

Most HK rifles usually have the grip integrated into the receiver, but I have seen some separate.

Either way, your best budget-minded option would be that. It's not going to shoot like a PSG-1, but it's also not going to cost you five digits. A friend of mine has a PTR91 and I've shot it a few times. Very different bolt mechanism and very unique recoil impulse. It's not the most accurate thing in the world, but it's standard "battle rifle" accurate and plenty good fun. Probably as much as my M1A, which is about 3-4MOA with ball ammo. Maybe a little less with match ammo.

That post I made with the various components I found has the trigger group in it. The PSG1 trigger group alone is 2k. So, yeah.

See if you regularly shoot that stuff, then that's awesome. If you bought it JUST to stock pile, you're part of the problem why the rest of us can't get any.

I sold off my MP5 clone .22lr because it haddn't been shot in two years for lack of finding ammo (and it was a novelty piece of junk). Picked up a shotgun with the money and blast away cheaper than 9mm.

Oh I know. But wanting it to look like a PSG1 and shoot like a PSG1 are two different things. One can be done for about $1,300-1,500. The other for $4,000-8,000.

All of those 22s were purchased when they were plentiful and cheap. I paid less than 15 each for all the 525 packs, CCIs were 6 bucks a brick. I refuse to pay today's ridiculous prices. 22LR is the only caliber I stock pile since I can't reload them. I keep other calibers at only 1000 rds per caliber, I stock pile reload components so it's like having 5k rounds each caliber. Oh and I also stock pile XM855s for SHTF situation.

Fair enough. While I haven't bought much in the past year and a half, I'm not shy from having plenty on hand. :P

(Think I posted this before... maybe not. Also another two green ammo cans full of 308 I picked up super cheap a while back. And all shotgun shells are stored elsewhere due to size).
