I honestly thought Titanfall would be much higher on this list.

Titanfall isn't a launch title though, it's not releasing until Q1 or Q2 2014. I don't have one reserved either because I'm waiting to see if there is a special edition one later.

What IS surprising is difference in exclusive titles reserved. PS4 only has two (Killzone and Knack) while X1 has four in the top 10 (FM5, DR3, Ryse, TF).

Let's compare the #'s

Killzone: Shadow Fall - 221,710
Knack - 40,982
Total = 262,692

Dead Rising 3 - 61,254
Ryse: Son of Rome - 57,962
Forza Motorsport 5 - 56,201
Titanfall - 27,956
Total = 203,373

So what's actually surprising is that Sony has more pre-orders with 2 games then Microsoft has with 4 games.

I guess I didn't make the bigger point that both consoles are driven heavily by third party games available on both. I own KZ 2 and 3 and see the bigger mass appeal, but I never really liked that franchise because of Ifthe controls. If the new KZ fixes the awful, vague, laggy controls, I'll probably pick it up myself too.

Plus, despite its flaws KZ is generally considered a flagship series for Playstation. I'm sure if Halo was launching with X1, it's numbers would be up there too.

Yeah, I realized the non-launch-title thing several hours after I posted it. Makes sense.

Also I completely forgot about Need for Speed Rivals. And now it's a launch title for both consoles. Still, I think I'll end up with Driveclub and wait for NFS. I did like Criterion's take on the game, but have no idea how Ghost is going to handle it.

When I first saw footage of Ryse it looked great. And then it was QTE after QTE, and I ended up feeling really disappointed in what I had seen. Hopefully the final game proves to be much deeper.

Pretty sure if Halo launched with the XBOne they would've doubled the console sales already, haha.

Footage and gameplay of Ryse at GDC looked good. I still don't care about that title whatsoever, but at least it actually looks like a game now. Think themed gladiatorial combat in an arena that changes on the fly. In ancient Rome, they would decorate, build props, or even flood the arena to do different battle demonstrations. It's all jazzed up of course, and looks pretty cool.

I've already got Ghosts and Forza 5 reserved. I wish I had the time to justify also spending money on Dead Rising 3, because DR and DR2 (along with the two DLC games) were among my top favorites.

First world problems, right?
I had to have a driving game, so that was Driveclub. Then I thought I'd go with another.. Watch Dogs looks amazing, but I've also never experienced a Killzone game. And everything I've seen so far makes me want to play it.

Oh well, at least xmas is soon after release, amirite?

I really want to like Killzone... It's why I bought KZ3 after borrowing KZ2. But the controls are just SOOO floaty, laggy, and vague. It's like driving a mid 90s ford contour and trying to "feel the road." There's just no connection between my inputs and the movement I see on screen.

Watch Dogs looks really cool too, but as of the past several years I really try to cut back the games I buy and get as much value as I can out of the titles I DO buy. At 60-100 bucks a pop (collectors editions, etc), I better get more than a weekend or two out of it. I have piles and piles of games that I would buy, play for a week, and then move to something else. But in the past 2 or 3 years combined, I've maybe bought a total of.... 5 games? And haven't bought anything in 2013... Mass Effect 3, Forza 4, MW3, F1 2012, Ghost Recon Future Soldier. (Though I am indefinitely borrowing The Last of Us from the roommate).

Back to Watch Dogs, the game looks VERY COOL, but it may not have the longevity to play over and over for a long time. But since roomie is getting a PS4 and Watch Dogs, I don't have to worry about getting it myself for X1. :P

I've also tried to be more frugal with my game purchases. When I was old enough, got a job, and realized I could buy pretty much what I wanted, I wasted so much money on games that I hardly played at all. Now that I'm older, I realize I was stupid, and just buy a few a year maybe. And unless it's something I really want, I can wait until it gets cheap.. which leads me to my next point...

Now I only do that with Steam, during a sale, when it would be financially irresponsible for me to buy a game that I'll play for ten minutes for full price when I can get it for three dollars.
Been trying to kick that habit, too. Did well this sale!
