Like any other purchase, need to do your due diligence and find a 'good un' so to speak.

one huge advantage of the bmw is it's safety, which is obviously a huge factor however way you look at it... got rear ended by a lady driving a tahoe on the freeway on-ramp in the e39, she was going somewhere between 20-40mph... car was totaled, but good thing it was in the bmw...

I had a '97 E39 - years ago. I was lucky to dump it at 100k miles. Still purred like new but even the small stuff I did have to get fixed added up fast. (depreciation killed me on it too) amazing car, but I wouldn't touch a used BMW these days without an extended warranty - and the E46's are pretty much all past the ext warranties now (my favorite 3 series). |

Doesn't matter IMO, although I've never really driven the base car.

Relative to other Hondas at least, the rear multi-link suspension geometry is mediocre. They had to cram it in there and the wheel rate is meh--need to run stiffer springs/rebound damping in the rear to get it to rotate.
As for power, they've never made much power anyways--has more punch than a Miata at least. I love K20 engines though so I've never complained. |

Probably because they simply don't feel/drive like the older Hondas. I think it's the MacLoser struts instead of the double wishbone all old Hondas used to have.
I personally still think the RSX was a great vehicle...but I do miss the feeling of the double wishies at over 100mph. No comparison in ride quality. |

I ride on double wishbone daily. Over 100 mph my car floats like a boat lol. Too scary.
