Well Toyota has been a total fail in the sport(y) car area for years now. (The Corolla XRS is in fact marketed using sporting/performance bumpf but what a pathetic vehicle it is.) And new variants of many other brands/models of cars have lost road feel when electronic steering systems have been introduced to gain that extra mpg or 2. Can't wait to see if the FR-S avoids this pitfall.

^this. Even after doing extensive suspension and steering mods to my corolla, its still fairly disconnected. Although when I drive my friends stock corolla I feel like I'm floating on air lol. Toyota knows what they are doing. The LFA have EPS and people rave about it.

Hi guys.
I've been following the progress of the FT-86 through this site and the net for some time now, but only recently registered. I've just got one concern - 12.5:1 compression ratio means they're highly unlikely to be boost-ready. I can't see a s/charger let alone a turbo kit as bolt on. You would need to upgrade internals. Or am i just being an idiot...? South Africa should see the FT in the first half of 2012, but our landed cost will probably be twice as much. (GBP 50 000 if the estimated price is used as a yardstick). Either way, I can't wait!! |

The quote about the ft86 having the lowest COG in any production car may be refering to cars with a standard wet sump setup.
I'm not 100% certain on this but i dare say the LFA and Ferrari 458 use dry sumps meaning the engine can be mounted significantly lower in the chassis. |

@ PREDATOR786, We know the engine can handle a low output turbo since Toyota did a G sport concept but it only made 230HP. The boost will be limited to low boost like any other super high compression N/A engine. Even N/A engines are usually strong enough to handle some boost, it's a matter of how much before something breaks or how much it shortens the life of the engine. A good reliable setup should last 100k+ miles but we shall see. @ caked, you might be onto something. It was just mentioned here that the LFA had a dry sump and how it makes a difference in CoG. |

Ditto on the rear seats here too, that's at least until the family gets a van... Once the van is in the family, this car is being ripped apart to bolt as many unnecessary things to it as possible... While removing as many necessary things as possible to make room...
