It's carbon activated so it needs to get dark in order for it to work.

If it never comes back it could have been an air bubble or something stuck in the cam valve that is now dislodged. Mine came back right away so I would expect it to show again soon or not at all

Copy that. I've put on 200+ miles since it popped up on Saturday and no code.

Probably alright. Wouldn't hurt to change oil and filter. That's about all you can do for it

You could always actually get it checked BEFORE it blows the engine you know.

Yeah, I'll add that to the to-do list before 1st day of auto-x.

Want the code on when I go, so that I don't get the run around from the dealer. They've treated me like garbage in the past, so I want to minimize the hassle. In addition to that, I've been driving the truck, because Toronto traffic and work, so not much time to deal with anything. Might be taking most of next week off, so I'll put some miles on then.

This whole living at 2 residences sucks big time.

5 bucks?!? Now that's a steal for a cabin filter.

The dealer wants like $25+CAD here IIRC.

Even if the CEL goes out there should still be a record of the code on the ECU unless you cleared it already with a logger.

That reminds me how I had to fight the VW dealer big time for everything. When the front PCV valve died and I could hear pressure building up inside the engine like a pressure cooker I thought it was the end. I actually drove it to the dealer the next day and turned out there was a recall on it. Luckily I didn't blow the engine on my 20km trip there lol! I ended up writing to VWoC and the dealership and they started treating me right afterwards, but the Golf was truly a POS.

I paid 27 at crappy tire, if I'm remembering right. It may have been 22, but was definitely above 20, and around 25.

Haven't you been back to work for like a week and 2 days?

It will unless it spins a rod bearing first. Have to drive it far and steadily enough for it to go back into closed loop. Then it has to detect the lazy cam.
