Prom was cool. It wasn't amazing though and it sure as heck wasn't worth the price I paid to go to it.

It's the stuff people can't tell you to look forward to that make it worthwhile. For some, prom is a big deal. You likely have other priorities than being a poster child for all that is superficial....

I didn't want to either and honestly didn't have a date for it, but went and hung out with friends.

It's definitely hit or miss but I hope you had at least a bit of a good experience!

I do hate the part where they make you pay a bunch of money for a ticket. Mine definitely cost more than it was worth.

Well now, here's my follow-up.

Ever spend so much time looking forward to something that you missed some good stuff that happened right under your nose? That's the whole point of "stopping to smell the flowers" and the old saying that life is not about the destination, but rather the journey.

Of course, plan for your future. Have goals. But the best stuff happens in the moment. You can't experience the future, only right now. Enjoy it.
