This has got to be the most bizarre HR dept ever. So I got a call back asking me what time I'm available for an interview tmr. After I picked a slot the lady goes well okay I just needed to know not confirming you are actually chosen for an interview. Talk about rude.

Then I get another call from her and I picked up just as I shifted at redline and all of a sudden I get this really polite tone asking me to come down for an interview tmr.

Being broke I accepted. @Tcoat thanks for the cliff's notes I'll try and figure out how to play them well I mean I did take semiotics and organizational behavior in school afterall not that I remember a thing lol!

And just so folks don't think I'm making this up, I did a little searching. Apparently it is not as uncommon as I would have thought it is. There are even supposed "get hired" experts talking about how great it is.

You can search "automated phone screenings" to see results on it if anyone is interested.

This article pretty much summed the experience up for me.

I spoke with one of my graduates last week for my day job as Associate Director of Career Services. I asked her how her phone interview was conducted. She said it was automated, and my jaw nearly dropped to the floor. She replied “the automated guy asked me a question and gave me 3 minutes to respond, and then it went to another question”. She went on to explain that there was no time for questions and the automated person said if the human resources representatives liked her responses they would schedule a phone interview. Another phone interview, not even a face-to face interview. This is ridiculous in my opinion. It takes away all the human elements that accompany an interview, even if it is by phone. Like being able to ask questions to the interviewer, or the interviewer being able to tell you about their company.

That's a pretty big stretch. Lots of accents in my office, right in the middle of Chicago. The team I work with most regularly has people in London, Seattle, and San Francisco, and about to add members in Gurgaon. My local associates include people from Bulgaria, all areas of India, China, Romania, Russia, and of course American mutts... and I'm sure I don't even know half of it. Welcome to tech jobs.

When they ask if you if you want a coffee, accept it. Be specific about how would like it, 2 creams, no sugar or how ever you do like it but be polite. Say please and thank you sincerely, give a nod of the head. If you don't actual like coffee that's fine just pretend to take a sip once or twice.

Hum can't enter museums. Once in they won't let him out again.

What do windshields generally run for? Need to get my truck's windshield replaced, but really don't want to put it on my own credit card if the shop doesn't take a fleet card.

This year I'm trying to limit what goes onto my card for work, since I tallied up some receipts and statements and found that by the end of last year, there was about $500 that I either forgot to expense, didn't expense because it was nickel and dime stuff or that I wasn't allowed to expense.

At least $200 bucks for a cheap Chinese one where the distortions are crazy near the edges.

Your company won't provide you with an AMEX Corporate Card? When I had one it was automatically linked up with the expense software at work so it matches up with the month end statement, just need to make proper justifications for each transaction on the software then submit to accounting and they'll pay it off.

Don't know if it works in Canada but you can get a quote on Safelite's website in the US.

LOL each office has a couple company credit cards. They're usually consistently maxed. Hell, the credit card we use to book flights was maxed for nearly 3 months 2 years ago. Had to pay out of pocket for 4 flights.

Looking at my tax form from this past year, I expensed nearly 40k. Hate it, but the reward points are great.
