In the "general car scene", you are regarded as handicapped or called much worse if people found out you drive an auto. Any threads that involve auto vs manual here, multiply by 5 and you get that kind of discussion elsewhere.

It's usually by people who drive domestics. and its usually kids to middle aged adults with small penis syndrome.
Hey not all the guys with small penis syndrome rag on the autos. I always support the pro choice.
Oh wait... that does not read right. Oh well I will let it stand.

That's terrible vision.
It means that you see the same image from 20' as a normal eye can see at 200'

Might want to rethink that!

So he got the joke because he's spent a lot of time with optometrists. Makes sense to me.

Didn't think about it that way!

Not many people are 20/200 corrected these days

Oh, yeah. With corrective lenses, I'm definitely not 20/200.

That intrigues me.
I honestly thought this forum was an exception, populated by people who have spent money buying a highly impractical but perky little sports car. I'm not surprised by MT being held in favour in here. I'd have one myself if it wasn't for the ever lasting stop-and-go congested traffic in Oslo.
(I do love this automatic gearbox, though. In "sport" it shifts more aggressively than I would do with a manual.)

But I did believe that the US population generally preferred AT over MT and that "driving stick" was regarded as antiquated and very tedious to learn.

And is it possible to have huge penis syndrome?

You are correct. Even these cars are sold with more ATs then MTs no matter what the majority on here may think. When you read the guys that talk about MT as if it is some strange and exotic thing that takes mad special skills to use you can tell that it is no longer the norm but the exception. Hell, I am old enough I still call MT a "standard" and this is usually received by a blank stare from the younger crowd.

Oh and yes!

But it has become a strange and exotic thing which makes us old people who have long ago developed mad special skills better than the young plebs who have yet to achieve our level of ... specialness.

Oh and yes!
Ok, so it's about the same trend as over here, then. It just started earlier in the US I guess.
My father enjoyed riding in my GT86. He drove a lot of different vehicles in his life. He was an army officer in a transport division and later spent many years surveying. Anyway, I asked him once if he'd like to drive my car. He said "I've never driven an automatic and I don't feel like learning it now".
These days however, there are popular models such as Toyota Auris Hybrid with "automatic continuously variable transmission" as the only option available.
A contraption so boring to drive that you can feel your soul wither and crumble as you sit and wait for arrival at the destination.
And I know these people who actually buy and like those cars. They are good people. A little on the dull side, some of them.
