Probably nothing of real interest soon. Right now, I'm just enjoying the car as a DD so no real need for upgrades for that mission. I kept playing around with the idea of an aero kit but really haven't seen one I like.

I did add the 1st86 console and glovebox items sent to us by Scion, so that sort of counts.

Father and Son, Moment Two...

Recently, my 15 year old made the cut as a keeper for the high school soccer team!

We went to the kick-off banquet two nights ago. A good time was had by all as they introduced the players, asked the parents to volunteer, etc, etc.

As everyone is leaving, I slipped him the keys for the second time (see other time above) and said "You drive".

He said, "Where's Hellga" (that's our Suburban)
"I brought Olivia tonight"
"Really, sweet!"

As he gets in the car, he lingers and yells goodnight to lots of folks to make sure all his friends (and probably more importantly members of the girl's soccer team) see him get in the car on the driver's side.

The road leading out of the high school has some decent curves in it, I tell him to speed up, he does, and later I have to tell him to slow down!

Once again, as we get out of the car, he says, "Man, I love that car!" I, of course, agree.

He told me last night lots of folks asked him about it, including a couple of members of the girl's team.

I think my work here is done...

Happy 1st Birthday Olivia!

My Firestorm FR-S (number 00274) left the factory in March, 2012 so time to wish her a Happy 1st86 Birthday!

I'm trying to find out the build date since we happen to share a birthday month. I know it's very unlikely but it would be cool if we shared the same birthdate!

I'm going to have to think of a good birthday present for her. What I would really like to do is adopt her a sister, but sadly I was outbid and it's not out of my price range!

My first 4 figure car, Audi Fox

I've been digging through the paper archives to find some of the cars I owned BDC (before digital cameras). So far, I've found this one:

Audit Fox (Audi 80 to the rest of the world), I believe it's a 73 but not sure. This is the first car I paid more than $999 for. If I remember correctly I paid $1,100 for it in 1979.

This was a fun car, and my first "nice" car. Sadly I lost it when I hit a stop light (yes, a stop light) in Richmond, VA. Someone pulled out in front of me, I swerved to miss them, spun the car 180 degrees and hit a free-standing stop light on the driver's side. I hit it hard enough that the light broke off and was hanging in the driver's window.

The A pillar was destroyed, total loss, and of course, no collision insurance. The driver that drove me off the road was nowhere to be found.

Wow that Audi was awesome! Sad to hear what happened to it. My parents had a 79 fox wagon when I was a kid, I loved that car!

Thanks. Funny thing was, I didn't remember it being a 4-door until I saw the photo. For some reason I had remembered it as a 2-door. Shows how much I used the back seat!

Thanks, it was the 70's and I thought I was Barry Gibb. The beard is much better now...

I had no idea what an Audi was when I bought this car, but I knew I liked it. Apparently VW started selling Audi in the US in 1969 for the 1970 model year with the Audi 100, but the 80/Fox was a much bigger seller. It was also the first 4 cylinder OHC car I owned.

15,000 Miles and all is well

Took Olivia in for her 15,000 Mile Scion Boost service over the weekend. They grow up so fast!

Of course, what was supposed to be a 30 to 45 minute service turned into 2.5 hours because I asked them to turn off the audible beep when the key fob is used to lock the door.

Seems that routed to "regular service" and caused a delay. In the end, it all worked out and I got to enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the next door Cracker Barrel so it was all good.

As I hit 15,000 miles its time for a little update on the future mileage milestones. Since I received my FR-S, I have averaged 50 miles per day. Utilizing that number, here is when I'll hit specific milestones (dd/mm/yyyy):

02/10/2014 32,000 Warranty
08/24/2015
60,000 PowerTrain
11/01/2017
100,000
04/24/2023 200,000
06/09/2025 238,857 MK1 MR2 Miles
03/08/2028 289,000 Astro Miles
10/14/2028
300,000
