Inb4 amphicar.

In any case, targa/spider makes more sense than adding weight to the car.

But targas and spiders DO add weight. The rigidity lost to the roof has to be made up somehow and that usually means extra weight. Now granted that weight is low but it is still weight.

There was talk early on that the body was designed originally to be stiff enough to be made into a convertible, but I don't think that was ever confirmed.

But they also made a big deal in the Toyota promotional materials that they made it a coupe instead of hatchback to make it stiffer so it is a bit contradictive to say it was stiff enough for a convertible.

I just saw this, something I shared on FB years ago, I thought that was an interesting 4 door hatch render.

The 86 is a fine little car. Can you fuck it up in some way? All of us in this office really like the new aggressive look of the Prius. Can you make the 86 look more like a Prius?

Thanks!

The wagon reminds me of the IS300 Sportcross/Altezza Gita. This is a good thing.

The 86 is great looking car. You could make lots of other types of cars with a similar look but it would defeat the purpose of the 86 IMHO. Just like small well-handling one... except it just looks like it... Don't mess with teh geometery. And don't let others wear our badges!
