Interesting enough, I only remember him doing one widebody/flared car and it was done entirely out of metal and smoothed down. None of this FRP and rivets bs.

True resto is performed by passionate craftsmen. It's offensive to even bring up RB in the same conversation.

What skill is required to take a sawsall to a fender and bolt on a hunk of store-bought plastic?

Shit like this guy... gaps all over the place on his fenders, then on top of that, it's a white dude who drops n-bombs in a ton of his captions on instagram. And responds to criticism with more racial and homophobic slurs. It's awesome. But, he likes to remind everyone about how much money he has, and that you're a "poor ***got queer" if you don't like his car, and "you talk so much shit online, but when you see my car at shows you're trying to suck my ****".

I really want to get an early 90's S10 or Jimmy (or whatever their counterparts are) and make a pro-touring style build out it. Of course I'd love to do metal flares, but I don't have the skill or the patience to do it. But, I suppose plastic flares and some bondo could work?

Cuz kids nowadays have never taken apart a real Porsche 993 GT2 bodywork to find out the rivets are not chop cut rebuild kinda quality like RWB.

It's like some of those high-end audio stuff they sell at Bay Bloor Radio these days. They look marvelous on the outside like long ago until the unit gets taken apart just to show the build is all fucking bullshit.

Those new Hyundai Genesis luxury cars have atrocious panel gaps too from what I saw at the autoshow.

They know vintage quality things are falling apart with age, and that the new things are made like crap, pick your poison or go custom.

But, trying to explain that to them would be like trying to explain to a person at the county fair, that they just aren't going to catch that greased pig out there in that muddy lot........

OR, maybe tell them the story of why they no longer rivet army tanks together ....... because they found out that when they would get hit by a HE (High Explosive) shell, the rivet heads would pop off and rattle around the inside of the tank like shrapnel.
