It feels like a much nicer car, all while still being "because racecar" at heart.
Toyota has made it a bit better car (except for the front and stupid LED lights) in a reasonable bid to attract more buyers and people bitch. Edit: I think I said this before. A person buying an FR-S would not bitch about ride quality or noise levels, that's all part of the "experience". A person wandering the Toyota lot would come back from an unchanged 86 test drive and say "great fun, but way to rough and noisy. And what's up with that fake CF, that's stupid looking." Attract more buyers is what is needed or else it's a dead platform, people need to understand this. |

I don't like it either, but it is not nearly so bad in person. Tada mentioned in the interview posted here that it does serve some aero purposes, and people hang much uglier crap on their cars, so who knows.

Brz didn't follow similar aero, interesting if there is any noticeable difference between the two updates in handling.

Jk I'm guessing that extra 2lbs of down force isn't going to be noticeable by anyone who doesn't get paid for lap times |

There's actually a whole story behind this but alas I am not at liberty to talk about such things in detail.
But let me give some insight to why the two fronts are different BRZ and 86 Let's just talk in general then Both cars are still very comparable, But data for the cars for the two companies come from different research. The 86 took most of its data from its 24 Hr car(Gazoo racing)this is where they learned about the aero Research is shared between the two companies, but Subaru decided to take most of its data from its GT300 car. Because of these two results the cars came out with different faces and because it's just a facelift probably not so much in changes of aerodynamics in general this is a minimal difference as someone said unless you're paid for laps you won't notice it too much. There's also a change in Toyota designer, the original 86/FRS was penned by an older Designer. The current 86 is done by the same team that does Lexus a bunch of younger designers who was directed to make the car in line with the rest of the line up ( the whole Toyota look fishy thing) meanwhile at Subaru, they had the same design team and made minimal changes, they were also told to make it in line with the rest of the 2017 lineup, the new Impreza has a similar front for example. So unless you own a wind tunnel, the feel and the numbers between the two is likely minimal

Animal skin(leather) is also overdone and I see many still buying cars with it even though it does a lot of harm to animals and the environment.
It's why I stopped buying "luxury" cars.

Which cost just about or more as the Alcantara Which remind me in a very funny way, people arguing about the trim piece and Then there's the early BRZ people with the silver plastic Now that I think we can all agree was terrible, even the patterned 13 FRS piece was nicer imho.

Carbon fiber solely for looks is tacky IMO, even if it's real. I could save more weight taking a dump.
I'm not going to stop eating steak anytime soon. Might as well make sure that the cow's skin isn't going to waste. I love my leather/alcantara seats. |
