Awesome! Cant thank you enough Mike

First, I ended up relocating my outside temp sensor to the passenger side vertical air guide that I had initially removed for the JRSC install. I simply dremeled the air guide to fit around the new intercooler piping and drilled two holes into the guide so that I could zip tie the temp sensor against the guide. The sensor now sits away from the radiator and oil cooler. When viewing from the front, it sits just below and slightly behind the intercooler exit piping. The temp wiring harness is just long enough to accommodate this. This setup gave me temp readings that were consistently 5 degrees (F) higher than the geolocated temp reading from my iPhone's weather app after 10 minutes of driving. Typically the outside temp reading stabilized after 10 minutes of driving: car was at normal operating temp and enough air had been blowing across the sensor.

The final step was using the Techstream Software and calibrating the ambient temp sensor to -3 degrees C (5.4 degrees F). This gave me outside temp readings that were within 1-3 degrees F of my weather app! Ambient temps in Las Vegas have been hovering between 45-85 degrees and the temp sensor has been pretty accurate within that range. The real test is when we start hitting triple digits in the summer months.

I realize this has no effect on the performance of this kit but just more of a fix if anyone was annoyed with the hugely inaccurate outside temp reading post install. YMMV. Hope this helps!

Where can I find the Techstream Software for calibrating the ambient temp sensor? Is this something in EcuTeck?

This is were I found the techstream software. It also recommends which cable to get as well. I had to use a Windows XP laptop to do this. I could not get the software to work on Win7. The "outside temp" calibration is not via EcuTek.

Maybe not understanding your question... I simply downloaded the software and bought the cable on eBay for the temp calibration. The followed the thread above exactly.

Hey Mike, should I get the TIY kit if I likely will have intention on going to E85 later down the line?

I would go with the Factory Tuned kit since you are in California. You get the CARB Legal Status, and so you don't have to pony up for a tune now, and one when you go E85. You spend about the same in the end.

Unless you already own EcuTek, you should get the Factory Tuned kit; it'll let you run the kit out of the box with no additional work or tuning (with your stock header and front pipe), and also get you the CARB sticker.

I have a Delicious ECUTEK tune for all of my bolt-on's. It's way too late for a stock header and front pipe, everything is pretty much changed sans supercharger.

the carb tune wouldn't work for you, get the TIY kit and then get a flash and go tune from delicious along with their MAP sensor.

I've been loving the delicious flash n go tune v16.20.

^This, unless you are planning on putting back your stock header and overpipe to be CARB legal, in which case, its easier to get the CARB kit to have the sticker ready when the time comes.

In that case, get the TIY kit. If you want a CARB sticker, you'd need to buy the CARB tune separately (we need your dongle/license ID). If the CARB sticker doesn't matter to you, then TIY + tune and you'll be good to go.

We can also supply you with the Delicious FNG tune + MAP sensor as well.
